If you are renting from an outside vendor, charging your rental scooter every night completely, overnight in your hotel room should get you a full "Disney Day" of coverage.

If you are renting from Disney in the Parks, you should not have to worry about charging.

If you are using your own equipment, and know it won't make a full day without charging, you may want to consider investing in new batteries prior to your next visit to WDW. A good place to start looking for *reputable* good quality parts is Monsterscooterparts.com

While it's true that you can buy batteries (and other parts) from Amazon for most scooters, I would be very careful about who I buy batteries from - you don't want to cause a problem with the electrical system for your device; it is literally the lifeblood of the scooter!

Disney does not make outlets easily accessible for charging - many of the ones that used to be kind of ubiquitous (like at the base of every lightpole) are either gone, or have been hidden behind security covers. After all, they don't want little kiddos running around and sticking their little fingers into electrical sockets. They also don't want a Guest to inadvertently plug in a defective charger - or to have their electrical connection cause a defect in a Guests charger. Either way, it could damage the scooter, or hurt the Guest; two more things Disney does not want to happen.

So, outlets are much, much harder to find these days, and CMs may not even be aware of where the working ones are in their area.

Just want you to plan ahead so that you have the best possible Disney Day! 🙂

If you really feel you need to charge the scooter, there is a bathroom around the corner from the restaurant that probably has a plug. It would mean leaving it there, though, which you may not be comfortable with.

The few times I have been caught short, however, I have used bathroom outlets without any problems.

Get and bring a "3 prong to 2 prong adapter." Some receptacles (outlets) are recessed below or behind a trim ring and the prongs of your scooter cord plug might not reach but the adapter will serve as a spacer or extension with prongs that will reach the receptacle.

Some receptacles are covered by a metal disk with a slot that a large coin (quarter or Anthony or loonie) can be used to unscrew the disk and reveal the receptacle.

I would recommend against both of those.
Many ECVs’ user manuals say only to plug the charging cord directly into a grounded wall outlet.
If an outlet is covered, there is a reason. It may be a floor outlet with a cover to protect it or it may be covered for some other reason. It’s one thing if a CM is asked and removes it for a guest to use, but not OK for a guest to open and use without asking.

We’ve found some favorite outlets around the parks for a ‘top off’. Columbia Harbour House at MK has a few wall outlets near tables. The pleasant CMs at the DVC stand in HS have allowed us to use the outlet by their cart. Sometimes restaurants have been able to accommodate us while we’re eating, sometimes not. We’ve also found sockets in out of the way places on random walls and such around the parks.

Usually it ends up we only need one top off at the parks per trip. Last trip it was only the day we drove the ECV from BCV to HS. All the other days we didn’t need any extra charging during the day.

This is especially true at MK and Disneyland, as both if these parks are old enough that some of those covered outlets actually are a different voltage or frequency and can damage equipment. So some are covered and used for specific uses only.
