I have a trip planned on June 5th and broke my foot this past Saturday. I am in a walking boot and will rent a scooter to help with getting around. I want to rent from an outside source - not Disney since they might run out. I have looked at reviews for Scooter Bug which seems to be the only company that Disney lets drop off at Bell Hop without me having to be there when it arrives. The reviews for Scooter Bug are a mixed bunch with lots of problems lately (it looks like). I have also looked at Gold Mobility and their reviews seem very good. I am looking for recommendations of who to rent fromand and advice on 4 wheel vs 3 wheel, Gold Mobility even offers a free canopy but I am not sure if it would just be in the way. Please chime in with recommendations and advice. Thanks!

Gold Mobility is by far and above the best, they have the best battery life, the scooters are replaced every 6 months and they refurbish and , so they are always in great condition. They also offer some free extras that no other company that I know of offers, such as the under carriage lighting (it makes a huge difference in making you visible at night and helps light up the walkway), a cell phone holder, a fan, a cup holder (two on some models), on the Victory 10 models, the captains chair, which is something most other companies charge extra for and makes a huge difference in comfort, there are USB ports for charging your phone as well. They also add reflective strips to the scooters, which also help to keep you more visible and have fewer issues with people running into you. You also get 4 free ponchos and two shower caps. The shower caps are to help keep the tiller and basket dry in the rain.

They do offer a free additional accessory, but DH and I usually decline those, as they do make it more bulky and honestly while their sun shades are some of the less obtrusive ones, they still get annoying.

One thing to note is that at present they only have pickup and delivery between 7 AM and 7 PM, but if you somehow have an issue with the equipment (highly unlikely), they will help you any time. Most other companies like Buena Vista and Scooter Bug used to stop at 7 or 8 PM and then didn't get in until 8 or 9 AM, I don't know if that has changed with the other companies or not though.

I personally prefer the in person drop off and pick up, then they can help me adjust everything for my comfort and when they pick it up, I know they have received the equipment. There have been problems in the past with Bell Services not being able to find the key and sometimes even claiming someone never returned the scooter.

Another note with Gold Mobility is they will meet you on your schedule, not a predefined schedule, for example Buena Vista only has two or three drop off and pick up times per resort. Gold Mobility isn't the only ones that pick up and drop off on your schedule, but they were one of the first and one of the only ones I know that are waiting for you to arrive rather than you waiting on them. Meaning, as you drive in or get off of Magical Express, your scooter is sitting there waiting for you, with the caveat of being between 7 AM and 7 PM and they are really good about working with you if you arrive early or late.

Additionally, according to their Facebook page they are now testing Victory 10s with two 50 Ah batteries, the standard batteries are 35 Ah each, so. this is a huge upgrade and something that none of the other vendors are doing to my knowledge. Even before this upgrade, their batteries generally lasted all day in the parks, with this upgrade they will do even better. They are also testing even better undercarriage lighting and a stronger fan. It sounds like they have a handful of them that they are randomly delivering at present for testing. They can't guarantee that you will get one of the new units at present, at least not until their entire fleet is upgraded, but this is an example of the thought and effort they put into their service.

In short, I know too late, there is a reason they have all 5 star reviews everywhere (at least last I checked), they really are that good.

not sure of post but had one about sunshades and most felt they were in way plus did not help that much. I like the 3 wheel for turning esp in lines. Ps look for one of mamabunny's long posts about new to using scooter for help. have a great trip.

There post a few days ago from someone asking similar questions - I'll try to link it: https://www.disboards.com/threads/first-time-ecv-user.3837362/

I posted there - and went on a bit - but the short version is definitely a 3 wheel and I dislike the sunshades immensely. Gold has been great for me as well. If you do want to see the canopy you can always ask them to bring it and if you don't like it just send it back with them or leave it in your room. Please check out that other post if you can!

Sorry about the double post but I am not sure how to delete it.

Gold Mobility, Gold Mobility!! I've rented from Buena Vista, Walker, then Gold Mobility. Now I won't use anyone else. No, they don't leave the scooter at Bell Services, but I'll tell you how they do it, and let you decide how "inconvenient" it is. They texted me the night before. Then we texted when I reached the airport to confirm. When I got to the resort, I texted them that I was there and waited on the nearest bench. A few minutes later (maybe 5-10), they arrived with my scooter. They explained it all to me, and answered any questions I had. Several years ago, when I had a scooter left at Bell Services, Bell Services couldn't find the key, so I waited almost 1/2 hour for them to "find a key that fits".

I personally use the canopy with a rental from Gold Mobility. I truthfully have a hate love relationship with it. Lol! Because of many issues, me being "covered" is a godsend. When I need assistance from a bus driver or family member, if they don't remember its there - its another story.

Currently at Old Key West with a Gold Mobility scooter and had never rented a non Disney scooter before, but after this rental, I will only rent from Gold Mobility. Plenty of power to get you thru the day.

Me again, I did the Gold Mobility Pride Victory 3 wheel. The 3 wheeler is easier to drive. If you have to back into the space on the bus, use the very slow setting.

are the sun shades easy to remove?
is there a way to store in if removed at the park?

I was going to get that but if it’s really a pain then it might not be worth it

I honestly wouldn't get a sunshade and I don't think you can store them anywhere at the park. You can have bell services hold them at your resort though.

Does anyone have a picture of the cup holder on the gold mobility’s scooters. Is it the kind that fits just a water bottle or can you put a drink from Starbucks in it

They are in the process of changing them out with a new style that holds more types of cups, but we found water bottles, Disney Cups, Starbucks Cups and Refillable Mugs (both plastic and metal) all fit fine. Just note that on the refillable mugs, the old style can scratch the mugs if that is an issue, we use a wash cloth to prevent damage.

I'm 100% sure I put my Starbucks drink cup in it every day - it was very useful.
