We have PS for the SciFi restaurant. We have been to WDW many, many, many times and have never been. It really just never applealed to me, but now having the children and especially the boys they are really excited to go.

1. What kind of movies are playing?

2. We have PS for 7 - they said that we would have to sit in two 4 seat cars. It is DH & I and 5 kids, one being 2 yrs old. I was hoping that we would be able to sit in a 6 seat car. The CM making the PS said no way. And she said that they could not guarantee the cars next to each other. I would hate to go and have DH & the boys sit far away from us. Do you think at check-in time we could take the server(or hostess) into putting us all in one car? It would free up more space for others.

Thanks in advance.

Don't know about the 7 in a car thing, but the movies they play are trailers for old sci-fi films. They also had an alien cartoon or two in the mix.

In all, this is one of mine and my daughter's favorite places to eat, and a must everytime we go to MGM. The hamburgers are the best, and they have (sell) cups with light up ice cubes for the kids (and in some adult beverages as well) which are pretty cool.

I have gone a few times but if it wasn't for my husband ( he has never been before) I would not be all that interested in going again. I will say it's good to go at least one. It is cute and the burgers are pretty good. ( I would stick with burgers or a sandwhich... don't expect great but the food is ok)
I think you would be able to at least get cars together if you explain the situation when you get there. You amy have a little more of a wait but I would hope they would understand and try to make you happy.
They also have picnic tables that you can all sit in but I'm sure the kids would like the cars better. Good luck. oh and the movies are cute.... for a while LOL:)

I don't see why they can't give you a 6 seater car and a high chair for the 2yr. just tell them when you get there and get there a little earlier then your PS.

I don't understand the seating arrangements. If there are 3 of us, would we get a car for 4?

The movies are clips of the "Run don't walk...from the mutant robot teenager from mars (scream!)" variety. When we went DS was 5. I'm quite sure that he had no idea what he ate because he was so entranced with the movies.

We were a party of 4 so I can't help you on those arrangements, but I can't imagine they would split the family so you'd be far apart.

We went with a party of 8 - two families of 4 each. We were seated in cars next to each other. However, it was a slow time of year (right before Winter Break) & it was raining. However, we did not have PSs. So I would assume that if you are a family of 7, as opposed to 2 families totalling 7, that they would do everything in their power to seat you together, even if they won't guarantee anything on the phone.

Your kids will love the place! Mine do!

For what it's worth, here's my opinion.

First, remember, that the CM's taking the PS's are sitting behind a computer and do not work at the actual restaurant. They probably have to say that nothing is guaranteed - simply because it's not. And, they probably, honestly, don't know if you can all fit in a car, or anything more than they are told. I wouldn't worry about it until you get there. The CM's that actually work in the restaurant would be the only ones I would listen to.

Fitting seven in a car - I think that the CM's can decide that when you check in. I was hoping to go there in January with my nieces, brother, SIL & my parents - that would be 7 of us, but we never made it. My thinking was that, my two nieces could have sat with me, with my parents and their parents in the rest of the car.

They way the cars are set up, I don't think bringing up a high chair is an option, but I'm not 100% on that. I'm always to excited and not observant enough when I go there.

One other option is a regular table. They used to have tables and chairs for larger groups/people in the back. When I went in January, just me and my parents, I noticed that they had moved the tables and real chairs to the middle and added car fronts and backs to them. So instead of your whole car sitting two by two facing the screen, you actually faced each other. They may pull a high chair up to that kind of table.

I never saw a four-seater car - only six seaters. But again, I wasn't very observant. The way the cars are set up it's like being in a car with three rows of seats that hold two people. When you have a party of three, they sit two in one row and one either behind or in front of them. Then, if there's a party of two, they become the "hitch-hikers" and sit in the same "car" as your family.

The movies aren't really movies, but clips of old "B" movies, Sci-Fi of course. There are also a couple short cartoons, also sci-fi related in subject.

I LOVE this place and can't wait to go there in two weeks!!! It is my favorite restaurant and I wouldn't go to WDW without a visit here.

Here's a picture for reference. It's kind of dark, but may help.

My boys LOVED the Sci-Fi, it's top on their lists! We had a 4 seater car and dh & I each took one boy. The boys love getting their meals on glow in the dark frisbee's, they thought the restaurant was "the coolest" and I got a tasty cocktail with a glowy ice cube!

I had the chili and the salad with spiced walnuts and they were REALLY good! Oh and the onion rings were tasty too!

Have fun!

It's a pretty cool setting. There have even been times when we did not eat there, that I'll just go stick my head in for a few minutes just to catch the ambience.

We went last Oct. and had a party of 7( 4 adults and 3 kids ages 8, 5, and 3). We sat in one car. Two adults in one row, two adults and the 3 yr old in one row, and the 8 and 5 yr old in the front row.

We love Sci-Fi and are planning to go again in December!

There will be 3 of us -- 1 adult and 2 teens, so it sounds like they would have to put 1 of us in a different row, right? Is it possible for the one person by themselves to carry on a convo with the other two? I'm just trying to picture how this would be. It sounds like such a cool place to eat, but if we can't all talk together, I don't know if we'd want to go. Would they put us with another group of three or what? Anyone know?

Well, it's not really a place to go and talk. Everyone faces forward, the lights are low, and you sit and watch the movie. Very few people were carrying on conversations when I visit, it's just not that kind of place, so it's not a big deal to have "dad" sitting right behind you, becuase you're all watching the movies anyways.

Just like a Movie Grill works, where you watch a movie and eat at the same time.

For us, it's never a problem, because after so many days on vacation together, we don't mind a break in coversation for awhile =) The themeing is great here, I think its the best themed restaurant at Disney, and the clips are too funny!

I just made a PS for Sci-Fi 2 hours ago. We have a party of 5! The CM insisted we get a high chair(yougest is 3)...even when I kept saying NO! I guess I will have to wait till we get there and request a 2 row car! My 3 DDs can certainly fit in 1 row!!

Here's an option. Besides the cars, they have a handfull of round picnic-type tables with umbrellas. Back when dinosaurs ruled the earth and we went to drive-ins, I recall that around the concession stand there were tables like this.

Anyway, I think those things seat six. It's not as campy as sitting in a car, but it might solve your problem.

On two occasions we've walked up to Sci-fi without PS's and asked for one of the tables, and walked right in.

we had 6 adults in or car so i find it hard to believe youcould not fit a2 yr old in with 2 of the other kids. I'd ask when you got there. the movies are the old attack of the 50 ft woman type but might be scarey to really little kids as they had a couple of monsters I think.
