DD 8 is afraid of spiders. Do any of the clips have any giant spiders. She's pretty good with other scary stuff, loves Harry Potter (except the spider scene). DH really wants to go. Don't want to ruin dinner if she's scared. Went several years ago, prior to DD. I know the food gets pretty bad reviews, but generally anyone have any feedback on the ribs?

Thanks,

Suzanne

I was there in 05 and my DD was 7 at the time. We did not find it to be scary at all and I do not recall any spiders anywhere. My DS is also very afraid of them and he hates that part of Harry Potter as well, how funny is that. As for the ribs, my other DD who was 15 at the time of trip, enjoyed them very much and as I recall the food wasn't what we were expecting but dessert was very good. When you think of a drive in we were thinking more on the way of burgers, fries, milkshakes, onionrings, and that was not the case. I had ended up getting a chicken ceasar salad and it was by far the worse I have ever had. That is my old stand by when other things on the menu don't interest me so I had one in many different places.
With that I think you should check out the menu section on the boards and see if its something your DH really wants to do as he may be thinking that the food choices are different then what they really are.
Good luck with whatever you should decide and I hope I helped you alittle.:wizard:

Well, I"m 31 and FF through that part of Harry Potter as well!!

The videos are more campy than anything ... more like 30s fright night stuff. Pretty tame.

My kids don't find it scary at all. We have a VERY timid, shy 4 year old little girl and she loved it!

I have a dd8 who has been going to the Sci Fi since very young. The ONLY part that really bothers her is a scene from The Colosal (sp?) Man, I believe...they go after him with a LARGE needle. For whatever reason it REALLY bothers her so we make a plan to step out to the bathroom when that is coming up.

Buy her one of those glow-in-the-dark cubes to distract her! :thumbsup2

I'm pretty sure there's at least one clip with giant bugs ... but, I seem to remember giant grasshoppers (or locusts) not spiders. In any case, each clip goes by really quickly and they're usually overplayed with lettering, "WATCH IN AMAZEMENT!!" "ACTION LIKE YOU"VE NEVER SEEN!!" All of that campy stuff!

Our meal was quite good; though the atmosphere can't be beat, the food was really good, too.

Thanks everyone. I am trying to talk DH out of it as the food gets such bad reviews and we've actually been, probably about 15 years ago now. I don't think DD would miss it.

Scary? No.
Cheesey? Yes.
These clips are old black and white scenes from "B" movies that are more silly than scary. Think of the old movies that used people dressed up in really bad costumes as the "monster". I remember seeing giant fake ants and a few other things.

Yes, the large needle bothers me too, lol.

The food is not as bad as everyone else makes it out to be. Ribs are fine. Don't go in there thinking you are going to get KC Masterpiece type ribs and you'll be fine. I took a party of six there for dinner, no one ordered the burger (heavens! it wasn't on the menu so we can't do that!) and everyone really enjoyed it. And these are VERY picky eaters. Not that they like only certain things but what is placed in front of them better good. I would have heard if anything was "wrong" with the meal.

Not trying to tell you what to do but if your husband wants to go, go. If I let a negative review of a Disney restaurant make a choice for me, I'd never eat there.

I can't remember a spider on the film loop but there could be one. But it'll be over with very quickly.

And take a small flashlight. The lights in the cars to read the menu is very dim. You are at a drive in, after all.
