Looking for an update on the SF for dinner. I took a 7:00pm ADR for NYE thinking it would be fun (my dh loves sci-fi movies), but the reviews from 06 say it is bad for dinner. Can anyone give me an update? I tried to change to the 50's diner the next day and there was nothing....I will keep trying if the consensus is that SF is bad.

Can you get sandwiches at dinner?

We (me, DD18, DS12) loved it! Most people go for the atmosphere, not because of the food. We had the burgers & onion rings at dinner, even though they are only shown on the lunch menu, our waitress offered them. They were pretty good & DS had ribs which were good too. The milkshakes were excellent! My kids had them as their drink option & dessert option on DDP :thumbsup2

We love Sci-Fi better then 50's. We always get the Shrimp and Pasta(can't remember the name) and it is excellant. I would not change.

We liked it too !We had the steak which I don't think is on the menu anymore, but I also have heard that you cangeet the Hamburgers at dinner and everyone says they are great!! The onionrings are very good too!!and of course the milkshakes!!

We love it too! My husband is a big fan of the ribs!! best he has ever had he said. I love the shrimp pasta they have!

Milkshakes are great. Burgers are good.

Just a suggestion about table location. Ask to be seated in the middle or back. We were seated up front and the screen was just too close.

It's also very dark in there, so don't plan on reading any park maps. Just enjoy the movies.

I guess it's up to me to post an opposing view here. :confused3 DW, DS-14 and myself had dinner at th Sci-Fi Drive In during our visit this past week. In our opinion, the poor reviews are totally deserved. Our dinner was disgusting and our service was only average. And a tip...if you're planning on sitting at one of the tables that seat 4-8, bring a flashlight so you can see the menu! I noticed that the cars that seat 2&2 have lamps, but not these tables. It was really hard to see the menu!

DW had the Shrimp Pasta and said it was very "blah." She said the shrimp was ok, but for $19 you expect more than "blah". I had the Butcher Steak, which isn't even on the menu listed at allears. I asked for it to be medium. The outside was "crusty" and the inside was so mushy I could barely cut it. Maybe that's why the lighting is so dim, so you can't actually see the food. Anyway, I only got through about half of it before I got tired of fighting with it. My son order the cheeseburger with fries...and about halfway through eating his fries he discovered a hair in them! :scared1: He shoved the plate away and was done at that point.

On the bright side, I thought the theming was pretty neat. However, for a bill of $85 plus tip for three, I expect a decent meal along with the theming. We were severely disappointed. We could've gotten a better meal at Denny's.

We love sci-fi. :thumbsup2 Their burgers are so good & don't forget the milkshake - they are incredible. When we went for dinner in 2004, they did not have burgers on the menu. I just asked the waiter & he said no problem. I don't think you will be disappointed!

we at at Sci-Fi a week ago and the burgers were just as good as I remember! I haven't had a lot of different food there.. but the burgers are awesome (and you can get them for dinner, you just have to ask)... the spinach artichoke dip is really good too as are the milkshakes!

I would stick with the burger .. you can't go wrong with it... but if a burger doesn't sound like a good dinner to you, maybe you should try some place else? The atmosphere at the Sci-Fi is so cool though! You definitely need to try eating there at least once!

good luck!

THat's too bad about the meal Fearthisss had. I know every now and then a bad meal happens. Personally, my fam has always loved the Sci-Fi. We have had great burgers, pasta and shakes. Our servers have always treated us well, and although the lighting is low, we've managed. I'd go back there in a heartbeat!

Well, I hope we have a good meal. My ds said that he did want to go there so NYE we will be there. I appreciate all the feedback and will try to at least get in the middle. I hate being too close. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!!

As a follow-up to this post: just got back from Orlando a few hours ago and suffering from withdrawal.:sad2: Anyway, we did spend NYE at DHS and had a great time. Our reservation at Sci-Fi was at 7:15pm and checked in about 7:05pm. We were called to "park" exactly at 7:15pm. Considering the crowds I was impressed. Three of had the burger and my dh had the ruben. We were all VERY pleased with our meals and thought that the theming was very fun and our server couldn't have been nicer. (she even smuggled one of those glowing ice cubes for my ds' beer) :thumbsup2 !!! All in all we were very happy and were happy to have a nice diversion for a while to what was a very BUSY day. Another memorable NYE at the World. Thanks again to all who gave me their opinions. I don't know whether we would go back because we have now "been there done that", but would definitely recommend it.

Our kids 5,6 and 10 at the time loved it. My wife and kids got the burgers and I got the shrimp pasta. The food is fine and the drive in was cool for the kids.

Welcome back. I am glad you had a good time. What a great way to spend New Year's! I understand the withdrawal - wish I was back there myself.:guilty:
