To save some money and not eat dinner int he park every night I wanted to do these places for lunch if possible but I have a couple questions. Heading down 9/24-9/30

#1 Is the dining experince the same for lunch and dinner? meaning will i miss out on anything from the experience if I go for lunch instead?

#2 do I really need ADRs? Seems like there is a LOT of availability

1. The experience should basically be the same.

2. I would definitely get ADRs just to be safe. I know when we are at 59s Prime Time about 2 weeks ago, they did have a bit of availability for a earoier dinner (we checked in at 4:30 for our 5:00 ADR and were told they were told they did have availability if people asked), but I wouldn't count on it! If those are "must do" restaurants for you, get ADRs....that's my advice, at least!

Just have to add....we LOVED 50's Prime Time Cafe!!! The food was amazing!!!!!

1. We have not seen a difference in the experience at lunch or dinner. Both restaurants have the same menu and prices all day and atmosphere seemed the same all day long.

2. If you know you want to eat at a particular restaurant, make a reservation. You are going during free dining so restaurants will be heavily booked. At Sci Fi we've seen walk ups turned away. Also, if you want to sit in a car which to us is a big part of the experience, you will need a reservation because if they are taking walk ups they are seated at the round tables in the back.

We've were able to walk up to Sci Fi and get a table within 10 minutes. Probably around 5:30/6. We had a table though- not the car. Keep in mind this was in mid January and the crowds were low.

1. Yes, the lunch experiences will be the same.
2. Yes, get ADR's.

I also strongly recommend ADRs. While you may get lucky and be able to get seated as a walk-up, each time I've been to either of these, they've turned away walk-ups, even at lunch.

One other thing about 50's Prime Time Cafe - while the experience is the same for either meal, it still depends on your server. We've had some real 'blah' servers who didn't seem to get into character, and some awesome servers who made the experience all the more enjoyable.

You need ADR's for both of those places since good food options in HS are lacking.

I prefer Sci-Fi over 50's. It's a cool experience and oddly enough I felt the food was better. (FYI I had the Reuben at Sci-Fi and the chicken at 50's)

Definitely get ADR's if available. You can definitely risk it and just walk up, but there may be a VERY long wait or no availability at all.

ADRs it is. Still not sure if I'll do lunch or dinner yet. Helpful to know they are a similar experience. Thanks!

Jeff

Looks like youre going during a free dining period. I would...not even suggest, but insist, on reservations. We went last September and even booking at the 180, it was difficult to get some reservations we wanted. We waited at Sci-Fi for 30 minutes even with a reservation at 2pm. Ive been to Prime Time many many times and its always packed.

Re. saving money by going for lunch, I believe the prices are now the same at lunch as for dinner.

We go in Sept...a slower month... And there is never walk -up availability at 50's Primetime!!! We always have ADR but I always feel badly for the people that try to get tables that always get turned away. I have heard them say once to come back 20 min before closing... But usually it is just a flat out No. Definitely make ADR there...food is delish and the atmosphere is so fun!!! Make sure you ask for a fun server :)

Lunch and dinner are the same.

Definitely get ADRs. I've been at each of these at times where people coming in without ADRs are either told they aren't taking walk-ups or the wait is over 1hr at best.
