Do school vacations effect the crowd size at DL? and when do they have vacation time in the springtime?

Historically, the school breaks definitely affect crowds. Now that the APs/MKs are back, I'd expect them to affect whatever days aren't blocked.

As to when the breaks are, it's not as simple. There's multiple local school districts, but there's also not-local-but-close-enough districts (like NorCal, Oregon, Arizona, Utah, Washington, etc.) that also fly out. So it's not just paying attention to local SDs, but hundreds of SDs that affect the crowds.

Basically, mid-March to mid-April are going to be busy. You can look at the MK block out calendar to get a better idea of when they expect larger crowds.

yes it can affect the crowds

but for the most part, at least locally or in SoCal, we don’t have Fall break here. Nor do we have Columbus Day off. My kids don’t, and I even remember not getting it off as a child in the 80’s. We also don’t have an extra winter break outside of the December holiday season.

Spring Break can be all over the place. Many are either the week before or after Easter. Some public schools may be the exact time every year. (Various weekends of April… not at all connected to Easter)

Peak Spring Break for DLR tends to be the 2 weeks before and the 2 weeks after Easter, with emphasis on the week directly preceding and the week directly following the holiday.
Spring and Fall Break for CA's neighboring states can really affect the crowds at DLR.

But people in other parts of the country do, and we travel. :D
There is a “Ski Week”, which I believe is in February. Can be a busy weekend for the parks too. Not as bad as Fall and Spring break, but it is busy. I think this break is for the parts of the state up north and in mountain communities. And probably neighboring states.

I know. 😊 I’m so envious! Those are the weeks that catch me by surprise! Like “why are there so many families here?! What’s going on? It’s not even a holiday!” Ha

I miss that calendar of events posted earlier. It was helpful to know those events. Along with conventions… like cheer conventions that are also in the spring.

I’m coming from NYC during Presidents’ Week in Feb!!

What month is the Fall break? That one also surprises me. We don’t have that around here

I’m going to guess that “Ski Week” is the week of Presidents’ Day. Oh well. I’ll be out of NYC and in a happy place! With 5-day hoppers so I should be fine.

October. Usually for Arizona schools it’s around Columbus Day. So next week. Not sure about Utah, Washington, or Oregon. Nevada has a Nevada Day, which is observed the last Friday of October. So I’d expect a slight uptick in crowds for Halloween weekend.

Rule of thumb for every (tourist) attraction which mainly aims at families with children in school-going age: School vacations will be busy.
Extra busy when the region the attraction is in has a school vacation.

We are locals in OC. My kids spring break is April 4-8. So, two weeks before Easter. It's usually the week before Easter. So, they changed it up for next year.

We don’t either, but many private schools get ski week in Feb.

Our spring break is the last week or March. My olders ones may have the following week off as well if it isn’t needed for fire/smoke make up days.

CA celebrates Indigenous People's Day instead of Columbus Day, but many schools have it off. We'll be there for that day (next Monday) and crowds are expected to be 10/10.

Our school also has a week off for President's Week (what some call "ski week", we don't) as well as a Spring Break in early April (not always around Easter).

This is SF Bay Area, but close enough to DLR that crowds are impacted.

For several SF Bay Area schools, fall break is this week. It's often the first full week in October.
