Scheduling Uber to port for embarkation

We are staying in Port Canaveral the night before our cruise. Beyond the actual travel time from our hotel to port, should we allow extra time to drive in/enter the port? Is there usually a back up of cars entering? Our PAT is 11:30 and we would like to be able to be out of the car and line up for entry right then (or as close as possible- of course we cannot control completely!)

Things can get a little backed up, though moreso at the DCL terminal than the PC entrance. We did a Saturday departure from PC back in September, arrived at PC at about 10:40, and drove right up to the DCL terminal with no backups. Once we were on the ship, we did notice a line of cars to pull up at the DCL terminal (probably around noon/12:30ish), but it seemed to move pretty quickly.

Of course, that all depends on how many ships are departing PC that day, and how people are getting to the port. The former you can look up to help you plan (for comparison, I think we had 3 ships departing PC when we sailed, including us), the latter you can't really know.

If you do plan extra time and end up not needing it, you'll just have to wait for a bit outside the terminal. That happened to us, and it was no biggie (and actually we did get to go in a bit early, since there were no lines).

With a PAT (Port Arrival Time) of 11:30 there should not be any significant lineup of cars trying to get in. I wouldn't try to arrive any more than a few minutes before that.

To piggyback on my first question…is the PAT the time port canaveral will let your car in at the gate or the time you are allowed inside the DCL terminal to go through security? Sorry to ask as I should know this!!
