Ok i'm officially scared of Cap'n Jacks....I thought we'd try it for the Margarita's especially, and because we are in Down Town that afternoon and then headed to Pleasure Island afterword, but the reviews for CJ's are getting WORSE! I wanted to try it for ourselves and make a decision NOT based on what everyone else says, but can SO many people with the same opinion be wrong??

I was thinking Whispering Canyon Cafe or perhaps Spoodles instead....any opinions, suggestions on that? We are a couple of meat and potatoes, unadventureous kind of eaters on our honeymoon.
TIA!!

Whispering Canyon may be right up your alley. They have meat and potatos...that's for sure. Capt. Jacks looks like a BIG sea food place...which scares me....I'd say if your not into sea food...then changing may be a good choice. We did WCC last time we were in WDW and LOVED it. I think everyone at our table enjoyed their food and LOVED the atmosphere. This year we've only rebooked ONE place to have dinner and it was WCC.... We've also added Spoodles onto our list to try this year. It looks great as well.

we really enjoyed CJ's last year (DH & self). excellent food, vg service, nice atmosphere.
spoodles is one of our top 3 restaurants (including WPC & boma). EXCELLENT food at all; boma can be noisy & crowded, but the food & atmosphere can easily cancel out any negatives :)

WCC is not one of our fav's (we found food, service & cleanliness  significantly below other restaurants).

Trying Cap'n Jack's for the first time this year..I decided I won't go by reviews, I have almost cancelled what ended up being some of my FAVORITE TS places due to bad reviews and am so glad I went with my gut. The only one that I wish I had listened to was about Tony's last year for my birthday. I didn't like it AT ALL and I had been warned. You just never know until you try.
I am not a big fan of WCC though we are doing it again this trip b/c my son had a lot of fun there his last trip (horse races, shouting out things when asked) so I am going to give it another go. My server wasn't "funny", he was basically a poor server and he tried to chalk it up to his job, when he was almost non existant the whole meal. Our food was mediocre at best and the cleanliness as another poster mentioned was an issue for me. But will I have the same experience this next trip? I don't know, but I am willing to try. Hey it's Disney! :)

I think it depends on what you and your family like. We always go to Capn Jack's on the DDP for the lobster tails. We love them. On the other hand, as you read the reviews on the DIS, it seems that everyone adores Le Cellier. To me the food is mediocre, the service can be iffy and the wait time even with ADRs is horrible. So, if you want lobster go to Capn Jack's. If lobster isn't your thing then pick one of the others.
