Scared for my dad

So 2 weeks ago my dad had a cardiac ablation. A procedure to stop irregular heart beats. He ended up back in the hospital 2 days later with a groin hematoma, bleeding, low blood counts, etc. Released after about a week and today he is back in. Irregular heart beat returned. tomorrow he is going to have another cardioversion.

I am just so scared that his heart is "getting tired" kwim?

to top it off, we have this horrible snow storm coming, I talked to him on the phone but didn't go see him. My mom wants to see him of course tomorrow, but she is still watching my 3 yr old nephew in addition to the stress of what is going on with my dad. I told her to be smart about the weather, and not risk her life in this weather mess. ughhh, too much stress

I know someone who had similar issues and had to have the ablation done twice but he is soooooo glad he did it b/c his quality of life has drastically improved. You can still get the irregular heartbeats for a little bit after the ablation so think positive. Hugs

Perhaps the second procedure will do it. Think positive. With the right meds after this, he could live a good life.

I know how scary it is to see your parents in a weakened condition.

thanks everyone! His rhythm converted and they were ready to send him home. Mom and dad said they didn't want to go home yet because of the bad weather. good thing, because they took his BP (a time frame that would have been after his discharge) and it was only 80/43! so they are watching him over night and giving him fluids and managing his BP meds. Hopefully this will all work out soon.
