I just bought a scanner and it is not compatible with my computer.....thought it would be. Is there something that I can buy to make it compatible?

Probably. Let us know what you have and we can tell you what you need.

well I can tell you what type of scanner but not computer. It was put together by a friends dad and I have no clue what kind it is. The scanner is a Plug-N-Scan 1200 UB by Mustek.

I'm assuming that "Plug-N-Scan" means it is a USB device.

If that is true and your PC can accept it, I would just get a PCI USB card. I've seen them as low as $10.

Check to make sure that the scanner is actualy a USB unit and that your PC can accept a PCI card before you make any decisions though. If someone "made" your PC then there is no way to know what you have for sure.

Thanks for the info Mr J Cricket! It is a USB scanner and I am not sure if my PC would accept a PCI card. Augghh, I wish I was more PC literate!!

Well I guess I will have to check out what this PCI card looks like or get a different scanner.
