SC beach state parks

Can anyone recommend a S.Carolina state park located near the beach?

Hunting Island is my personal fave. Absolutely pristine and beautiful! Lighthouse, lagoon, beautiful dunes, semi-tropical atmosphere, marsh walk, culture/educational center, there is a fishing pier but I believe you would need to drive to it from the CG area. Lots of folks opt for the surf fishing, my relatives included. I posted some photos on another thread. I'll try to get that link for you.

Myrtle Beach also has a State Park right on the beach. The sites are a little back from the water in a more wooded area, but I understand they actually have some full hook up sites. At least that's what a friend told me, who BTW, LOVES this CG. We've never stayed there, but did a drive thru once. It was pretty nice. They have a long fishing pier as well. If you like the Myrtle Beach scene this is a nice way to be near the Grand Strand and also have a quiet retreat.

South of Myrtle Beach there is also Huntington Beach State Park. I don't know very much about it, but I do know someone who goes every year and loves it.

Thanks so much! We're changing plans to go to the Fort in 2011 for 8 days and then stop at one of the state parks mentioned (not sure which one yet) for a few nights before heading back home. Adults will get their disney fix and the kids their beach fix - so everyone is happy! Thanks!

If you decide on Hunting Island reserve asap. It fills up a year out.

We loved Edistro, you can walk right to the beach and the town is very quiet with good biking. The first half (as you enter the park) has more shade and wind protection that the side further from the gatehouse. We have been there twice in Arpil and had good experiences both times.
