How much did you lose on the Phase 1 portion of the SBD? Just the first two weeks, I know some people like to stay on longer(God Bless You), but I'm just trying to get through these 2 weeks. TIA

The first time I did Phase 1 I lost 8.1 lbs. I went back to Phase 1 after a bad Mother's Day weekend and lost 10.2 lbs.

I hate to say I don't know for sure what I lost in phase 1 because I didn't have a scale that would weigh heavy enough. My nearest guess based on what I weighed when I finally was able to get on a scale was about 10lbs lost the first 2 weeks.

Thanks guys, but I', giving up the diet thing. It's sad b/c I probably could have lost the 10 lbs I wanted to lose in the first 2 weeks of South Beach or at least come close to it. But I just can't do it. I can't stick with it, so I'm giving it up.

Tara--wait! What is it you are finding so hard? Is there a specific thing that is making you struggle? I was having a hard time dealing with protein all the time AND no fruit. I found No Name Steaks and they really make me feel like I am having quite a gourmet treat. Same with sugar free jello. It really does help with the sweets cravings. I also discovered a great message board at 3 fat chicks that has great recipes. I tried one called a "peanut butter cup" last night and it was so awesome I can't even tell you. Totally on program for Phase 1.

Good luck in whatever you decide. You could always try to just go to Phase 2. You may take longer to lose or you may still struggle a bit with cravings, but maybe with having a small amount to lose it would be doable.

I agree with Julie. I wouldn't give up. You can really make it work for you. There are so many food choices, there is great opportunity for you to stay on the plan and have a balanced diet.

I hope you decide to stay on it, but if not, find a plan that works out best for you.

Let me tell you guys my first day and then you can tell me if I'm doing something wrong. For breakfast I had an egg(I don't really like eggs much but I managed to eat one) and 2 slices of turkey bacon. I had 15 almonds for a snack. I had salad with chicken for lunch and a sugar free fudgesicle(very good BTW) b4 the later snack I was starving and my head was hurting so bad I had buffalo wings and baked beans. I didn't even make it through 1 day. I'm kind of a picky eater so maybe thats the problem. Where did I go wrong

Tara--first, I think you need more vegies. I know the book always lists some for breakfast. Try adding V8 or I like grape tomatoes at that time of day. You can also eat more for snacks if you need to. Do you like string cheese? That is a good option. I also find the Laughing cow cheese in celery to be a nice snack.

My biggest suggestion for you though would be to get the stuff that you really like and cannot have out of the house. If that means waiting a week and eating it up or throwing it away, I would remove the temptation.

And not be mean or harsh or anything, but weightloss is hard and you have to make sure you want it. For myself, I have a lot to lose and just was not in the right place emotionally or in my head to take it off before. I would start a program and then very quickly start to "adjust" it more to my liking. Or I would not journal. Or I would find excuses as to why it just wouldn't work for me.

You may want to take some time and figure out the reasons you want to lose and how important it is to you. AND don't beat yourself up about one misstep. You can always start again. Read the quote in my sig line.

See that's the thing it's not that important to me to lose the weight. If I lost the 10 lbs I want that would put me back at the weight I was before I had any kids and size 0 or 1. Now I am between sizes 1/2 or 3/4. It's not like I have to lose it for health reasons or anything, it's really just that I have cute clothes that are size 0 and 1 that I'd like to wear again. Like I said I don't like alot of things like string cheese. I've only V8 splash and I can't have fruit so thats out. I always ate a trmendous amount of junk food. My friends used to call my house "the Nestle Tollhouse" b/c I love those cookies and the cookie pie. I always had something in the house. DH is the same way, but he's got a physical job so he stays small. I'm home with the kids and the most exercise I normally do is cleaning the house. I want to be healthier anyway so my plan was to do south beach phase 1 and hopefully lose my 10 lbs or close to it, then basically follow phase 2 with the occasional visit to the nestle tollhouse or burger or whatever.

BTW, DISNEYMOM3, what are no name steaks?

Well, they might be a local product I don't know for sure. They come in a box in the freezer section of the meat department. The steaks are all individually wrapped and like vacuum sealed with marinade in them and they are incredibly good. One would not think so coming from a box but they really are.
