Now that I've completed my 1st 3 scrapbooks, all Disney, I'm ready to move on to real life. I can't quite figure out how to organize these "normal" books, though.

I have a Vacation Book (other than Disney) for all vacations over 2 days. And, I have a Christmas Book.

I purchased 2 books for my boys (6 & 9), and I'm just starting these with "the present". I'll move on to the baby books later.

I did our Christmas pages for 2001. I have about 6 spreads for our Christmas Book, and I did one double spread for each of the boys' books featuring their own stuff...no problem.

Now, I have a "go kart" page. DH gave them a "go kart" and I designed a GREAT page (IMHO). I had planned to have a page in a "General Family Album" and one for each of the boys' books. Is this INSANE??? They're pretty much going to be the same page, but important to each book?.? I don't want to go overboard, BUT if I don't do it now, it won't get done. It's kind of easy to do 3 similar layouts at the same time.

How do you all deal with this???

You are not crazy! Here are my books:

wedding
honeymoon & anniversary trips (now moving into volume II)
christmas
family (weekends away and various mini trips)
disney
bijou (my dog - yes she has her own album!)

I've got three step kids. My hubby doesn't have a lot of pictures from when they were young so for graduation I am making each of them a birth to grad book. I'll just do themed double page spreads - halloween, sports, family, etc. So far I made one for my son, my middle child will graduate in two years and I've got six years til my youngest graduates so I won't be starting her's any time soon.

I'm planning also planning to start an album of misc. trips my hubby and I have taken since we met and I want to make an album chronicling the friendship of my two best friends. Plus, I'm a CMC and I want to do a career album. I'm sure I'll come up with other album ideas as well. So I do not think you're crazy. My sister has two children and she makes separate albums for them. She gets doubles of all pictures and does similar layouts of each event in each book. I think it's an easy solution in order to capture memories for each child.

HTH!

A little over a year ago I started CM scrapbooking. Our daughter is 13 and I want to do her whole life.

So far I have a Xmas album up to 1996

Disney Album working on our 1999 trip then need to put our Christmas 2001 in.

Have our Home Book - not really started but have sorted pictures.

Tanya's book - just starting.

And last but not least I started a book of Tanya over the years and I really like having different ages on the same pages.

I love scrapbooking but it takes me for ever to lay out a page.

Have fun with it and good luck

Laura

I am working on my *fifth album for my DD. She's 8 1/2 and these cover her birth to present.
I also have:

Disney Album 1998
*One album that is ongoing for DH and I (mini trips, etc...)
OU album made for DH for Xmas
*School Album that is ongoing for DD
Wedding Album (completed...small wedding, not much trouble)
I have also done MANY Sentiments sized albums for small trips, gifts, themes, etc...

I am also in the progress of sorting through 15 1/2 years of pictures for *albums for nephew who is with us now.

I will basically have *4 albums that are ongoing...I work in one awhile, and when I get tired of that style/theme I work in another. They all stay caught up to around the same time (except for this new project of nephew's that I am tackling) so I sometimes have similar layouts of the same occasion in each album. Sometimes I have a lot of pics of the same occasion and will use them in all the albums a little differently. My friend has one boy and one girl and she basically scrapbooks their individual lives/interests and tries to include the sibling in at least one picture on the layout where that applies.

Good Luck and Happy Scrappin,
Candi

I have a bunch of books that I am working on !!

Previous Disney trip - 2 8 1/2 x 11 albums - DONE !
DS baby book - 8 1/2 x 11 - Almost Done.
DD baby book - 8 1/2 x 11 - Almost Done.

The rest are 12x 12 all in progress
Current Disney Trip
DS Preschool Experiences
DD Preschool Experiences
DS Toddlerhood to now
DD Toddlerhood to now
Wedding.... I hated my old album... it wasn't a scrapbook
Family Fun

I just work on whatever I have an inspiration for and store them all in a 12x12 pocket pouch and when it is ready to explode I will spend a forturne on albums and put them in some order !! I have found this system easiest for me !!!

Have Fun !!!

Thanks so much for all of your responses! I don't know what I would do without this site! No matter what I have questions about (sometimes things other than Disney DO creep into my life), I can always get some help or re-assurance.

Anyhow, I guess I'll stick with my original plan:

Disney Books
On-going books for each DS (baby, school, etc...)
Vacation Book
Christmas Book
House Book (we're in the midst of a WHOLE house remodel)
General Family Fun Book
And, maybe a Beach Book (in my free time!)

Thanks again!

I have one book of 'Reader's Clubhouse' Disney "Meets", even if they didn't actually occur at WDW, & two books of WDW pictures from the last 4 years. Then there are two books of miscellaneous "life" pictures in rather random order - being already 50 years behind, I scrap whatever pictures the sprit moves me. I figure when I have enough scrapped from a certain era or type of event, I can rearrange the post bound pages in a more orderly fashion.

I have quite a few albums so far. I have:

Disney album (this one has 3 trips on it but i will be doing another one soon just for our 4th trip last week)
Christmas album
DD#1's School Days album, Baby album through age 2, dance album, and then she is on her 2nd "regular" album
DD#2 Baby Album through age 2 and then I'm working on her 2nd album
Wedding Album
Family Album - I have I think 5 volumes of this so far....started out with more than 1 year in an album but now i'm doing just one year per album
Vacation Album from our beach vacation last year
Pre-kids vacation album (I will probably also put some of dh and I's dating pics and other pre-kids pics in here)
2 5x7 sentiments albums that are Disney autograph books with pics
1 5x7 sentiments album for dh

I think that's it. For the family album, I put anything in there that pertains to the entire family. For the girls' albums, I put their birthdays and anything else that is specific to them.

I plan to do a Disney album for each of our trips....I have one done, and am close to starting on my next one from our January trip.

My other albums
Family (one per year...2000 is done, still working on 2001)
An album, or series of albums for each child to take when they grow up (my 7yo ds's is done up to 18mo, my 2yo dd's has one page) for these I'm basically going to be doing brief overviews of events that happen.....holidays, vacations, special events and accomplishments...everything else goes in my albums
Vacations- I take lots of photos so I generally will need an album for each trip. I'm just finishing an album from a trip to the beach last summer.
Christmas- for photos w/Santa and photos sent to us at the holidays each year. I'll probably put in a pic of our tree each year and one page a year of holiday festivities.
Wedding

I've also done an ABC 5x7 album for my dd, and will be doing the kids' autograph albums from our last WDW trip soon.

When we eventually get a house I'm sure I'll do an album of that.

I color code my albums....my family ones are green, ds's black, dd's plum, Disney vacations navy. My misc. albums will probably all be differerent.

I've done the following:

Daughter's Wedding Album
Son's Marine Corp - Boot Camp through the Present (Ongoing)
50 Anniversary Heritage Album for my in-laws
3 - WDW Vacation Albums
1 - Puerto Rico Vacation Album
4- Family Albums - Current back to 1995

My goal is to keep my current photos scrapped and up to date. If the chance ever arises for me to go back prior to 1995, I'll do it - but I doubt it!

All of my albums are 12 x 12 size. I put everything into our family albums, unless it's a trip or a specific event - like a wedding.

I have been scrapbooking for years.......these are my albums:

oldest son (actually on his 3rd volume, 1st one is from birth to 2, 2nd one from 2-4yo, 3rd one is from 4 to present, will probably make it to 6 with it)

youngest son (birth-2yo, 2yo to present)

family (although this is my lowest priority...I keep the boys up to date)

vacation (all major family vacations)

oldest son's first trip to England

Volunteering in Kindergarten has kept me out of trouble, but not close enough to the scrapbook table :jester:

Thank you for allowing me to revisit my addiction, even if it's just in my mind
