Just got back from talking with our guide and he informed us that they just found out that the Free Valet Service was no longer offered to DVC members effective immediately. He didn't believe it himself (as he is a member also) and so verified it with MS. :confused3

I haven't tested it yet, but will tonight. If this is true, it is REALLY a mistake by Disney. Why would I be willing to pay $12 (yes, they increased the prices to that also) to park and go to the boardwalk or eat at one of their restaurants? I think it will end up hurting the business at some of these places.

I just hope the TIW card will still work for free Valet, but that is only good if you actually eat and not just to go to the boardwalk or other resort.

I think if there is any chance of this getting reversed, we all need to speak up now to MS and voice our concern over loosing this perk.

There's self parking. I don't see it as a "mistake" at all. Most likely the outside company that does valet parking doesn't want to give it away any longer...can't blame them for that. Non dvc guests have always paid it - there's no reason we shouldn't too if we're using it.

I'm not sure, but I think valet parking is guaranteed in our documents. If I am remembering correctly, they can't turn around and take it away from us.

Nope, all that is guaranteed is that we can book a room using our points.

It was a perk.. And a nice one IMO. I think the people who will feel the impact most are the employees. I think they will be losing lots of nice tips. It's easy to tip generously when the product is free.

Exactly. It's easy to toss the valet $3 for dropoff and pickup. But $18?? Not so much.

it does say that free parking is available to DVC members..is the websit not up to date?

I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner. When I heard that Disney outsourced their valet, I figured it was a matter of time.

DH and I don't drive while in The World but if we did, we would sure miss this perk.......

Heavens, no. It takes weeks if not months for the website to catch up with reality.

I am surprised that anyone would not be bothered by it because non-DVC guests pay for it? Yes, so that was a huge perk of being a DVC member. Why not take all our perks away then, because non-DVC guests don't get perks. Its only fair? I wonder what they'll do with handicapped guests. They valet free of charge.

We definitely won't valet anymore if this is the case - especially with the valet increase. And the previous poster who said those who will suffer most will be the valets is right. Bye bye tips.

OP - anxious to see if you had to pay tonight.

This just makes me more glad than before that we bought at BCV and not BWV.

It's most definitely nor guaranteed and it is most definitely going away.

Where did you find this? On the member website? Or on the DIS?

Not according to DVC. I just Emailed them a question a few days ago and although they didn't have the answer, they said to "watch the member's website, which always has the most up-to-cate" information. I kind of had to chuckle. I can't help but wonder if we should all guess when the member's website will get around to taking the free valet parking perk off their list of perks.

Valet parking for $12 is just ridiculous (unless you have enough $ that it doesn't matter to you, of course). I thought it was bad enough when they went from not charging guests staying at that resort to charging all guests a few years back.

:sad2:
