We went last night to see the premiere of Disney's Electrical Parade. It didn't fail to make the trip worth it! We got to watch from the preferred viewing are right by Playhouse Disney, just as the parade starts. :)

I just uploaded my video, in 3 parts, to youtube. Here are the links if you are interested-

Part #1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCkmIz0TgZg
Part #2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exM-0_4GdCU
Part #3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSGf5QP-mg0

This is my first experience posting a video so I hope you all enjoy it. Part #3 the picture could have been clearer but overall I think it came out well. And you can definitely hear the music starting with "Ladies and Gentleman. Boys and Girls. Disney proudly presents our spectacular festival pagaent of lights and magic and imagination....

Sorry no still pictures. I did the video, my DSis did the photos.

That was wonderful ~ thank you! I'm glad we saw it last July and April of 08 - too bad it won't be around this summer ~ I am excited for WOC though!

Thanks for sharing! Can't wait to see this (for the first time as an adult!) in a couple of weeks! :3dglasses

I was there last night as well and it was beautiful. Had a great nite, I got to see the Electrical Parade and use the $25 gift certificate at HOB. Bought the matching matching pink and grey sweatshirt and purse.

By the way great video footage.:yay: I heard you yelling the name "Justin" who is that? You should tape the firework show:flower3:

Thank you for sharing. What is the parade route with all of the construction and walls up? I will be there the last weekend it shows so think there might be big crowds. Am trying to figure out the best spots for viewing. Did you think there were crowds for the premiere?

Anywhere that is in the front. Electrical Parade starts at 9pm so people I saw was getting spots at like 7:30pm. If you want a great spot, you have to get there early and just sit/wait.

I loved it! Thanks for posting. That beginning part still makes me teary-eyed. I'm glad it's still old school, with Pete's Dragon and all. The last time I saw the parade was on Main Street in 1996 -- presented by G.E. instead of Sylvania. :) 1996 was advertised as the last year ever to see the parade, so it was a sad time thinking it would really be gone for good. Glad that didn't last. I'd love to see it make its way back to Main Street.

Thank's for sharing. We'll be there for the last weekend. Good to know how far in advance everyone was claiming spots. How did you get preferred seating?

ETA - I just saw your other post.... found out about the preferred seating.

That was awesome. Thank you so much for posting it. Unfortunately we don't arrive at DL until April 20. And of the things that are closed, the EP is the only one I'm really disappointed about <sniff>...I'll continue to experience it vicariously through your videos :goodvibes

Umm... so you heard that? That would be by Nephew. He's in the parade. Unfortunately you can't really see his face in the video. I'm waiting to see how my DSis' pictures came out of him. We are so proud of him. He has always wanted to be in the parades/shows at DL and he finally got his wish at Christmas 08. :grouphug:

Thank you for the compliment!

The parade starts at the gates behind Playhouse Disney (to the right of the Sun Wheel in the Plaza) goes around the plaza, past the entrance to Flik's Fun Fair towards Paradise Pier and then turns in between Farmer's Market and Mission Tortilla Factory. It doesn't go by the construction walls at all. The parade route is actually quite short so there are less viewing spots. This is the route all the DCA parades are currently taking.

Yes, I think there were crowds for the premiere but I haven't seen any local ads running for it. There maybe a lot of locals who don't know it's back yet. I think you can expect to see fairly large crowds on the last weekend.

I know that there are various thoughts on this, especially amongst various members of this board, but...

As a local, I spoke with several local friends who have APs about going to see DEP last night. (I have been sick for almost 2 weeks and am bed-restricted with massive cabin-fever.) Every single one of them said they were excited to see it again, but no way did they want to deal with the crowds that opening night (and Spring Break) were sure to bring.

So, I personally, believe the "locals" know it's back, but they also know the crowds opening weekends create - and are waiting. As I've posted before, I personally don't believe that most "locals" will wait 2 hours for a parade, when they can go in a couple of weeks and avoid the crowds. :goodvibes

Well congrats to your nephew, the whole parade was awesome. Looks like he did very well. What kind of camera did you tape with?

Thank you for sharing!!! I am so excited to see it in person next week!

Where did you sit?

We were lucky enough to get preferred seating right at the start of the parade. :goodvibes

As far as having to wait 2 hours to see the parade, that's not what I saw on Friday. As we walked to our viewing area about 45 min. before the parade there were still plenty of viewing spots available in the immediate area. I saw people getting viewing spots as little as 30 min. before the parade, directly across for our spot (after they tried to enter the preferred area). This was directly across from where the parade enters, in the sun plaza area, just to the left of the sun sculpture. From what I saw on Friday, it isn't always necessary to wait 2 hours. During Spring Break though, that may be necessary.

I too have friends who have APs and many of them are definitely planning on going to see the EP. One family is going tonight (Sunday). I guess it just depends on each person if they want to brave the crowds.

When I was younger I remember waiting to see the Main St. Electrical Parade and how excited I would get when they would dim the lights and the announcement would start. :cloud9: Now every time I hear the music it takes me back to that "happy place" Also, when my niece was very young the parade returned (1985) and the look on her face was priceless. I got to relive that memory when my DD (now 10) saw it for the first time years ago.:grouphug:

I used a Kodak Digital Camera that takes videos as well. Hand held. Thanks for the compliment to my nephew. Too bad we really can't see him-just his lights.

Great videos! My 4-year-old and I watched together and she wants to keep watching them lol. We're really excited to see the parade! And congrats to your nephew! I caught his name too ;) Exciting!

So I been waiting for like 30 minutes for the parade and everyone has their front spot especially now. I hate I have to watch the parade sitting down.

Going back tonite to see it one last time before it goes. The parade route has changed-now entering at PP and exiting my Mission Tortilla. Not going by Sunshine Plaza at all.
