Saved $$ today by checking Homeowners Insurance!

I actually sat down and read my Homeowners Insurance Policy when it came this time (we have Amica) and found that we had $48 in optional type charges. I wondered what those were and called the company - eliminated $41 worth! Boy do I feel silly for not reading it years ago!

One optional item was $10 / year for refridgerator insurance - if the power goes out they'd pay up to $500 to replace food. It apparently used to be free and then I guess at some point they started to charge for it and made $$ off of people like me who didn't think to ask questions. DUH!

If you have an insurance agent, call them and see if they have you in the best company. Since rates are always changing what was the lowest last year, may not be the lowest this year.
