Now, as you can see from my ticker, i've got quite some time to go ... but i'm so excited and i've already picked a date that we will want for the wedding, so i'm dying to get the save the dates out he he (i'm not worrying if it changes at a later date - i'll cross that bridge if i come to it)

So, what do you normally put on a save the date? and do you think I should word it a little different from the norm because of the time gap?

Personally I would not send them out yet. You have 4 years. So many things can and will change between now and then. I totally understand about giving people plenty of time to plan & save, but a year and a half is plenty of time.

If you really want to send something out I would do an engagement announcement.

Honestly if you would have asked me to send out stds 4 years ago my list has changed-not so much family wise, but friend wise.

Im so bummed because I know your right .... but i'm just so excited about the whole thing, plus the idea I have for save the dates that i'm just dying to do it now he he.

We have mostly family coming and the only 3 sets friends who have been around for sooooooo many years it's unlikely that we will fall out (altho anything is possible)

Geez, i love this planing but think i'm going to max myself out with excitement by the time I get to december 12th this year pmsl

I know its just so exciting & you want to do everything now!! I was the same way. I would just hate for you to do it & then something happens.

The engagement announcements might be a good thing to keep you doing something toward the wedding.

Also it looks like your sister is getting married soon so you might now want to take away from her planning. I mean if you were planning your wedding that is in 7 months, do you really want your sister whose wedding is being planned for 4 years away to be sending out things & kind of stealing your thunder?? Let the next couple of months be about her, but then take the next 3 years for it to be all about you!

I only say that because I have a little sister & some people are laid back about things like that, but not everyone. Also if anything use this as a practice for your wedding!

pmsl - i totally and utterly agree with you about my sisters wedding,i'm close to her so dont want to chance stealing her thunder - someone at her work has already done that .... except she keeps moaning at me when I ask her "has she done this" "has she done that" - she then shouts and me and tells me to go organise my own!!! in a sisterly-love kind of way :rotfl:

all I can do is sit and wait when it comes to hers .... she calls me BRIDESMAIDZILLA ... i drive her crazy about her own wedding:rotfl2:

You are right though about sending out anything before her wedding - i'll wait til afterwards .... altho that doesnt stop me from doing some trial designs right now. Besides, by the time it comes to sending stds out i'll have a ton of new ideas :thumbsup2.

JEEZ i love planning, but I hate waiting!!!

Yeah if my sister gets married I will most likely be the one planning everything as she is the kind of person who lets others take care of things. Its great that you are close to your sister. I always wish we were closer but there is an age gap that doesn't help. She was my MOH and I only called her bridemaidzilla because she was just annoying and demanding on certain things, like changing her dress two times.

I'm sure you will come up with so many great designs that you will have trouble picking one!

Don't do it!! :rotfl:

I have a box of 200 Save the Date cards I was going to send out when I was getting married here in New Jersey. Now I am getting married in Disney. :lmao: That was a big waste of money.

I totally agree with the engagement announcement though. They are really cute and people will love to get one. I know how excited you must be because I was too!!

Im DEFO getting wed at disney though - my other half finally cracked and annouced he is looking forward to it too, so i'm holding him to it! pmsl

I'll do the engagement thing then so i can get something out of my system before i burst with excitement!

Congrats on setting the date!!!! :cool1: I totally understand how excited you must be! When I first started "planning" our wedding we were four years away! I say it's never too early to start planning your wedding! That way you know you have weighed all the options and are making the best choices! I have changed my mind so many times (having just decided on the Disney Wedding this summer) and I'm sure I will change it a bunch more before our wedding next year! :rotfl: But I am an extremely indecisive person. :lmao: Congrats and I can't wait to hear all about your plans!! :goodvibes

I would definitley wait, as you'd probably just have to send them again a year before the wedding, as people won't have current calendars to mark your date! I read somewhere that you should send your STD's anywhere from 1 year to four months prior to your wedding.

Clemsongirl - ohhhh thank god there is another one out there like me - i thought I was the only one to start planning properly sooooo far in advance! Id have thedate booked now if i disney would let me

good point about the calendars chancecaught (altho the sister in law to be put it in her diary for next year he he)
