We are going to Savannah for a college visit. Staying in the historic district is a little pricey for us. Is there a hotel out a couple miles that is near a DOT stop so we could ride into the historic district to do our tour?
I don't know anything about Savannah, but have you considered an alternative to a hotel stay, like using airbnb? I've been delighted with what I've gotten through them. It's similar to VRBO but IMO has better deals.
We are staying in the HD in a few weeks at the Springhill Suites. Have you checked out many places in the HD? Midtown is a slightly cheaper alternative, but the small price difference really wasn't worth the hassle for us. Just a suggestion.
We will have a car but I hate driving where there is a lot of foot traffic. I was thinking it would be heavily populated during June with visitors so was trying to find a hotel on a bus route that we could just jump on. I have been checking prices in the historic district and they're a bit pricey. We were there a few years ago with our Girl Scout troop and stayed at The Inn at Ellis Square so I'm familiar with that one and it was so convenient to walk to everything. I'd prefer to not try to find parking each day to drive in if possible.
