Hi all!!

DH and I decided to replace his 97 Ford Explorer with a new SUV and we have narrowed the selection down to two vehicles (both used):

2006 Saturn Vue (V6)
2005 Ford Freestyle SEL

We each like both of them, but each of us has a definite preference. I'll be driving it primarily, but it will be the family car too when all three of us go places together and DH will get it when we replace my car down the road so we both have to like whichever we pick.

Do any of you have one of these? Love them? Hate them?

We'll be debating until Monday when we can get the finance paperwork in play so I thought I'd run things past the Dis'ers!

TIA!
Jennifer.

I'm not familiar with your choices, but thought I'd bump this for you! :sunny:

I have test drive the Vue and liked it a lot, although we decided to stick with my old car for now. I have an aversion to Fords, so I'm not really objective.

DW drives a VUE and loves it. I like it for the heated seats :)

We have a VUE and it is great. We also have the Saturn Relay and love it just as much.

There is just something so nice about dealing with the Saturn people. And something about Ford... gives me shivers.

We are a Saturn family, 2 SL's and one L series and we just traded in our 11 year old Astro van for a 2005 VUE and love it. We started with buying Saturns 5 years ago and have just kept returning there. No hassle and good service.

And on the opposite side of the coin, my SIL drives a red Vue. It's her "Toot-Toot, Chugga, Chugga Big Red Car." Let's just say she's been less than thrilled... Personally, I never understood the whole Saturn thing anyway. Why would I happily give a dealer a thousand dollar profit on a vehicle when I know I can get the same thing for far less of a mark-up? It must be more than the donuts...

We drove the freestyle and really loved the way it handled, though candidly we weren't thrilled with the comfort of the seats. I guess we wanted something a bit softer -- my wife said she felt that she was sitting ON the seat as opposed to sitting IN the seat. What impressed me most is the knowledge that it's one of the safest vehicles out there -- the vehicle frame is designed by Volvo and I can't think of another vehicle in which you can get clobbered from the side and walk away... Our son absolutely loved the car and I thought the large seating/storage/hauling area couldn't be beat for flexibility.

DH and I love Saturns. We have a Vue and are on our 2nd SL. We are happily  waiting to get the hybrid Vue next year when it comes out. I have never driven the Freestyle, but i've heard good things about it. My Vue gets about 29 MPG. We love our local Saturn dealership, they are the greatest group of people! Very honest, which is rare in dealerships.

Wow....these are the 2 cars I'm stuck between! :)

I like the On-Star with the Vue. But, the Freestyle is just so...good-lookin'!

We are a Ford family all the way - so I would go with the Freestyle. The only reason we did not buy one (we got a 500 instead) was the size issue with the seats and legroom. We are a family of four all over 6' so that was a big priority with us. The 500 just made more sense. Our teen boys were happy because the 500 was "cooler" than the Freestyle. Little do they know we are going to make them drive our Windstar. :teeth: :thumbsup2
