Satellite internet?

Last week my mother had Hugh net installed, it rendered her computer useless. It's (significantly) slower than dial-up. A call to tech support didn't help. She wants to cancel, I suspect they won't make it easy on her.
Is anyone familiar w/ this service?
Any feedback/advice is appreciated.

We have had it for 5 years now, and STILL hate it!!! Unfortunately, we cannot get anything else here where we live. Would LOVE to have cable internet like my parents!

Oh yeah, and their customer service stinks too! Wish her luck getting someone to talk to that she can understand.

I looked into it numerous times back when we had dial-up. Every internet site I read had so many horror stories that we always just decided to plod along with the 26k modem. The prices just looked $$$ when all the stories were "barely faster than our old dial-up."

Thankfully we just last month FINALLY got Comcast to install a cable to our house so now we have cable modem.
