Sat Aug 7 MGM/Animal Kingdom and Stroller Swap
We started the day with a wake up call from Mickey at 6:15am. MGM was the early entry and the Hobbs and my family were up and out to the first bus to MGM at 7:15. The Moores were at their Timeshare presentation for their tickets (3 - 4 day Disney hoppers for $385) and would be meeting us at Animal Kingdom later this afternoon. The bus stop was shockingly empty. Where is everyone? The park opened like 20 minutes early great surprise. Our first stop of course was TOT- all I can say was wow. A must do for those thrill seekers. I did Rockin Rollercoaster too in 2 words very loud for 8:20am. After Rockin Rollercoaster we headed over to Animal Kingdom. The weather of cloudy, muggy, and hot as all get out for those who dont know what that means thats really really hot!!!!! Our first stop in Animal Kingdom was Kilimanjaro Safaris. In one word Disappointing. It was so hot outside the animals were being smart by hiding in cool places. Cant say I blame them if you were born with a fur coat would you be outside in summer Florida weather? Up next was the Festival of Lion King. Let me tell you all if youve never seen this show its a must see!!! In 1997 I saw this show on Broadway and I was just as impress with this show in such a small arena. My only disappointment: it was too short. Too bad I forget to fully charge my Camcorder battery so I couldnt record the whole show. Dead battery- Can U believe!!!
Its tough to be a bug was next. Again great movie presentation. Disney does this kind of thing very well. My DD4 cried (or whined) the whole time. Yes I read that the presentation was intense dont bash me I guess I wasnt thinking!!! After the presentation she opens her eyes and says, mommy that was fun yeah right!!!! I think the images in the tree bark before the presentation is what scared her.
By now the Moores called and is now making their way toward the Festival of Lion King and plans to meet us at Rainforest Café at 4pm. Tammy told us the presentation at Orange Lake was not bad and very low pressure. She did say it took a little a longer than expected (closer to 2 hours) but they both said it was worth every minute of their time.
Our next stop was Dinoland. David takes DD4 and ride a few kiddy rides with her and I kind of wander off and absorb the ambience of Animal Kingdom. Our next stop was Dinosaur. This has to be the best ride that Disney has to offer (so far). It was outstandingly rushing. The riding vehicles, the dark, the special effects make for an awesome experience. David isnt riding anything this trip he says, I dont have to prove myself to anyone!! What does that mean? I wish I could find a way to make a square because thats what he was this whole trip!!!! We bought the pictures from the ride (the first one is $12.95 additional pictures are $9.95). After Dinosaur I felt like a teenager. All energized and excited about rides to comes. I love feeling like that!!!! This is why Im so crazy about Disney!!! Since Im feeling silly, Lets get wet I scream!!! Everyone agrees. We end up at Kali River Rapids!!! A 45 minute wait!!! Whatever lets go for it. I parked my stroller and headed in. The wait was more like 15 minutes. Do you think they put those times up there to clear the lines? Anyway just a thought. Everyone rode this ride. It was okay in St. Louis Six Flags has a River Rapids that has like 3 drops so I wasnt impressed at all with this ride. I did like that this ride provided a space to put items so they wouldnt get wet. I wish all rides provided a place for cameras, camcorders, and valuables.
It was now 3:38pm so we made our way to Rainforest Café. As soon as I park my stroller, it starts pouring down raining. It took the Moores a few minutes to get there, but they were only a few minutes late. Before I get into the meal let me tell you, if you plan to eat here and you want to save a few dollars get the Lunch vouchers ($31 for adults and $12.75 for children). Those vouchers are so worth it!!! Our waiters name was Edward and he was exceptionally wonderful. The Moores were the only family that did not use vouchers. Using on 1 adult and 1 child lunch voucher we ordered a Natural Burger with fries and cheese sticks (for David) hotwings, a childs fish and fry and Cheese Cake (I think Banana cheese cake), strawberry smoothy, cranberry juice, and a volcano. The total was $67.02 vouchers cost was $43.75 (a $23.27 savings). And Davids burger was pretty cheap - most people would order a steak or the salmon to really get their monies worth. The Hobbs family ordered all kinds of stuff including the salmon and an additional Natural Burger. They ordered the Volcano too and none of us could finish that $13 dessert. The Moores ordered $50 worth of food and again Tammy was unpleased. What is she craving people Trix or Honey Grahams!!! I cant wait to buy this women some cereal. Again soooo pregnant!!!! Everyone was happy and full (except Tammy), so we prepared to leave. Guess what? Its still raining cats and dogs. Oh yeah, I knew I would forget to ask the disboards a question. Can you tip using Disney Dollars? Well, according to our waiter Edward you can. He was so attentive we gave him an additional $15 (in both cash and Disney dollars). We gather our things and head for the door, oh my goodness its now raining extremely hard big ole fat rain- a Forest Gump quote!!! I had 4 Disney ponchos, and gave the Moores my extra one. James has a head like a basketball and tore my poncho!! We all tease him about turning our poncho into a button down.
The Hobb family took forever deciding on rather of not to buy ponchos. Whats to think about? You have an 8 and 10-year-old buy the dog poncho. The ponchos in Rain forest are only like $6. Final decision: They bought the ponchos. Although Rainforest is at the entrance in the park it took forever to get to the bus stop heading to Pop. We just missed a bus so it took like 20 minutes for the next one to arrive. The bus ride was quiet until someone mentions the death of Rick James and comedian Dave Chappelle. Dont worry if you dont know who they are: one is a 80s singer and the other is a comedian. I thought my stomach was going to explode watching grown men reenact scenes from Dave Chappelle.
When we arrived to the room I was pleased to see the Disboards Stroller Swap. It looks like we are ready to replace this one. And since I believe in putting my money where my mouth is, I am willing to give whoever $20 on a new one. There was a situation on Aug 12th that may be troubling for future stroller swap users it just isnt safe anymore. As I sit here writing this report I wish it would stop raining so I could watch Wishes, Spectromagic, Illusions, Fantasmic or something other that the Little Mermaid storybook on Disney TV. Can U believe?
I have pictures but I can't figure out how to transfer them. I uploaded them on Yahoo's photos so they are online. What to do next!?!
