There was a sheet of paper in my Guidance office titled "Attention Junior Class: Important Dates and Events!", which listed off the SAT/ACT/PSAT/ASVAB testing dates.

Are we supposed to take these junior year? I was under the impression we only take them for senior year?

I only took the practice SAT which was required when I was a junior. I took the ACT my junior year the first time and then the summer between junior and senior year the second time. I got the same score both times (22) but improved my math score on the second one.

Most people I know took it their junior year of high school.

its a good idea to take them junior year, becuase you do college apps around december/january of your senior year, so you'd be kindof pressed to get the scores back before that, if you did them in the fall. (i know the act does have a september test that is back around thanksgiving, but if that score is really bad, you're kindof screwed) so its a good idea to take them early.

i actually took the act my sophomore year.

I took my PSAT last year (Soph), I'm taking it again this year, and ACT in the spring.

But only because my school makes me.

yeah junior year is when most people take it. senior year u can take it in october if u didnt do so well when u took it first.

i took it middle of my sophmore year and got 1500 out of 2400 and didnt take it again. it was so hard, but then again i didnt even study. but we dont need SATS to get into a college her, just the college board, which is easier
:)

I took my first ACT in June (Before I enrolled as a junior), and I'm taking it again next month. I'm taking the PSAT next month as well. Most people I know take them their junior year.

I took the PSAT my sophomore & junior years in high school, then took the real SAT in May of my junior year. Most schools start letting you apply in August/September, so taking the SAT/ACT your junior year helps get it out of the way, or lets you know what to study better if you want to take it again.

I took the PSAT sophomore year, the SAT once in my junior year and I'm taking it again as a senior in October.
A lot of my friends took them three times, but I think it's honestly just a waste of time and money, as your scores won't vary that much.

Also, most scores in the Northeast don't really care that much about your ACT scores, and since my SAT's were really strong I didn't bother with them.

My teacher actually told me that the colleges like that you're willing to take the ACT (Or I'd imagine any test) more in order to improve your score.

Also they have fee waivers, me and two friends both talked to our counselor and we get 2 free ACT tests, including the writing if we decide to (Which you might as well, it's free!). It's definately worth looking in to. :goodvibes

Most people take the ACT towards the end of Jr year because a lot of 11th grade topics are covered on the ACT so if you take it at the beginning of the year, you havnt learned some of the material.

I take my ACT on saturday and ill probably take it again at the end of the school year depending how i do on saturday

Most kids take it their junior year and if they need it, at the beginning of their senior year. I only took ACT so I only have information on that. But here is what I know from being a junior last year.
There are a variety of days to take it. Some juniors start taking it at the December or February one. Most juniors take the spring one. I know my state also gives a free ACT as part of a state testing. If you feel ready, or just want to take it to see how you do, go ahead and take the December test. I'd totally recommend taking the spring test, I'd say 99% of my class did. This way you can know if you need to take it again. There is one at the beginning of June that a lot of my friends took. If you still don't have the score you want you can take the first one next year (around early September of your senior year). I know a few people doing this as well. You will still have time to get your test scores to your colleges after taking this test.
As for prepping for it...if classes are available in your area or through your school, take them if you want. They mostly teach you how to take the test (good test taking skills) and what to expect by taking practice tests. I took it and it raised my projected score 3 points. But there are also good books out there at book stores that help as well. Either way, its a personal thing.
Hope that helps! PM if you need anything else.

No take them junior year!! Senior year is when you should be applying for scholarships, ect. I was awarded mine in early Oct, and thats when I knew what state school I was going to.

GL!

I'm taking my SAT's in the Spring (I'm a Junior). Last year, they offered the PSAT's. Most people take them Junior year, and if they want to re-take them, Senior year.

With the new Senior Projects, it's advisable to take them Junior year in my school district.

Junior year is also when they offer the SAT Prep course at my school.

We don't offer ACT's in this area.

SAT dates at my high school are October 10th and March 13th. They only offer the ACT on February 6th.

How old are you when you do the SATs?
We do tests called SATs in the 3rd year of HS, when we're 13.
But they don't really count for anything and we only have them really to determine what our target grades for our GCSEs (the actual important tests) are.

act does national testing. if your school doesn't offer every test, a near by school probably does.

i know when i was in high school i would test with people from schools counties over, because their school wasn't offering that particular act.
