My husband and I, along w/ our 2 1/2 year old, are going to be staying at Saratoga Springs, in a 2 bedroom villa at the end of this month (pretty sad that I'm just discovering these boards now). What are your thoughts? The last time I was in Orlando was 5 1/2 years ago, so this is our first time w/ child and I can't help but feel a bit clueless.

You can find more information on Saratoga Springs on the DVC planning board here on the DIS.

What are your concerns or questions/ That would be helpful so people here can address them.

Welcome to the DIS.

Welcome to the DIS as well

SSR is a very nice resort

Ask your questions away

Cheers

We toured SSR last summer. The rooms were beautiful. I am sure you will have a great time. I believe that you can take a boat to DTD from there.

We were there for one night on NYE. It was beautful, nicely laid out, the rooms were new and fresh.

Love SSR. Of course I may be a little biased. Its really a pretty and quiet resort.

I love it there...I just stayed there for the 1st time in December over Christmas. We usually stay at BWV or OKW but I have to say WOW!!! To SSR! My mom grew up there and my grandparents still live there and we have a camp near by and many times I have been the congress park to just stroll, watch a concert, or feed the ducks and to see it in the pictured almost 100 years ago was just so cool. Very dear to my heart. My favourite part of all though must be the artisits pallet, highlighting that saratoga has a flurishing artististic culture :wizard:

We've stayed at SSR twice with one more coming up this May and we really enjoy it there. It is very pretty and quiet. The pools are great and the location is nice, too.

Just curious, though, -- why did you get a 2BR for only three of you? Is that all that was available?

We have DVC but we always get a 2 bedroom even if there are only 3 of us. Sleeping on the sofa is not a vacation to us, we want beds. ::yes::

We just got back from SSR Friday, and it was wonderful. The resort is beautiful, new, clean, and just lovely. The food was great at Artist's Palette, we had breakfast and dinner there a few times. My DDs LOVED the pool, it was nice and warm (although getting out was kind of chilly).

Have fun and enjoy your trip!

I got a 2BR because our son won't sleep in a pack 'n play (or a crib if it's not his own), and DH and I figured he'd do better in a real bed in his own room. Plus, this way DH and I can watch TV and won't have to tiptoe around if he was sleeping in our room.

As for some specific questions:
Would you say SSR is kid friendly - Is there a playground at SSR? How are the pools? Do they have toys available for the rooms?

Does SSR have any children activities (that parents can participate)?

I know there is a families forum - I just haven't weaved my way through those threads yet, and you all seem to be very helpful. Thanks!

The main pool @ SSR is great for kids!

Zero entry should suit your toddler well. The water jets with Donald Duck are very fun as well.

I know there is a lovely playground as well, I've seen pictures, but I am not sure where it is located. I'm sure someone else does though :rotfl: .

The room decor is absolutely beautiful IMHO. I think you'll have a great time!!!!

We get a 2BR quite often for our family of four so the kids have a real bed and we have an adults room :cool1:

SSR is kid friendly

Community Hall Activities
Two slides (one really small) at the theme pool
Spray/Splash pad at theme pool that kids love
Quiet pools in the outlying building areas
Playgrounds are on premises - there are a couple
Toys/games can be obtained at community hall - not sure if they can be taken out like at VB

We just stayed there - room 3621 in The Springs - dedicated 2BR - there were 3 kids with us - 2/6/10 yrs old - all had a great time

cheers

OH! Makes sense to me! That's great that he is more comfortable in a big boy bed!

Be sure to check out that forum. I've learned a lot about traveling with a younger one from everyone there. It was incredibly helpful.
