Anyone have an opinion of Saratoga Springs Resort? What are the transportation options from SSR?

I thought I read somewhere that there is boat service to DD, is that correct?

Also, is there a map that shows the resort in relationship to DD? I have found separate maps of each but can't figure out where they are in relationship to each other.

Thanks!

Joe

There is bus service to DD, or you can walk, as well--depends on where your villa is.

SSR is directly across the lagoon/lake from DD--kind of hard to miss!

For transportation, SSR has dedicated buses to the theme parks and DD. You can also walk or take the bus to DD and catch a bus to any other resort.

SSR is also part of DVC (Disney Vacation Club)--Disney's version of a time-share resort.

One Bedroom and larger villas have full kitchens, washer/dryers, etc.

i stayed there in 2006. i enjoyed it - i was on the congress park side of the paddocks and had a short walk to the bus hub at DTD for resort hopping. it is spread out and can require some walking to get around. the furnishings struck me as very deluxe.

here's a recent thread about SSR.

these people really love SSR...

buses are pretty much it, except for...

yes, there is a boat to DTD.

Also, is there a map that shows the resort in relationship to DD? I have found separate maps of each but can't figure out where they are in relationship to each other.

relative to the map of SSR, DTD is across the water in the lower right-hand corner of the map. there is a little trail from congress park ("F" on the map) that leads across a short bridge to the marketplace area/bus hub at DTD.

if you're on the left side at the grandstand ("H"), then there is a walking path down to the cirque/house of blues side of DTD.

Transportation: There is a boat that goes to DtD. I don't know how often it runs, it could have been every hour on the hour, but don't quote me on that. There is also a path, I don't know how long it is. The bus goes to all the parks and DtD. I've never had a problem with the bus service, there is a bus stop in every section of the resort.

Restaurants: The Turf Club is a very nice restaurant. While it's not the best restaurant on property, I have received consistently good service and food from them. SSR's CS is pretty large and has plenty of seating, it also has pretty good food.

Recreation: There is a pool in each section of the resort and a main pool. While the main pool isn't huge, considering the size of the resort, I've never seen it packed. I guess, it could be that a lot of guests just use their quiet pool. SSR has a spa and in my opinion the nicest gym on property.

Rooms: Are beautiful. They're also still very new looking. All rooms have a balcony. If you get a one bedroom or larger there will be a kitchen, washer/dryer, and jacuzzi tub. If you're staying in a studio, the laundry rooms around property are free. I've only used the one by the main pool, it was very large, had carts, a tv, plenty of seating, and an island in the center for folding laundry.

I really love it there and hope to stay there again sometime soon.:cloud9:

We stayed during a recent trip in November. It was our first time there. I thought it was great and my kids, DD7 and DS4 loved it! We were in Congress park and it was a nice walk to DTD. The rooms were really nice and the grounds beautiful. The main pool was awesome. Nice waterslides, one large for DD and small one more my son's spead. And they had a little water play area with Donald Duck. There was poolside bingo going on one day while we were there. There is a building with activities for the kids close to the main pool. Crafts going on each hour, video games, toys, ping pong table. I think it was called the community hall. The only thing I did not like was the bus service. Although others have not had problems so may be just my timing. We were there the week before Thanksgiving and the parks were not that crowded but but the time the SSR bus got to our stop. Think it was #4 of 5 stops the bus was packed and sometimes had to stand. And it's not like we were leaving first thing it the morning. More like 10-11 am as we are late risers. I'd stay at SSR again.

Our family bought into the SSR last year and I have to say we love it! :goodvibes It is a great place to stay and is beautiful. The people are really nice too. We love the games at the pool and being able to relax in the jaccuzzis at night before going to bed.

The proximity to DTD is either a walk or boat ride away and if you are into golf there is the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course. My DF plans on playing there when we go in March.

Hope this helps!
Cheers

We were there from 1/27-2/2/08 and we loved it. We had a 2 BR villa in the Grandstand section, room 8710. The room was very clean and we loved having a washer and dryer so we could pack a little lighter!

We had requested Congress Park in the 2000 buildings because it is close to the path to DTD and had really nice night views, but they had nothing available.

The only complaint I have is that the SSR buses seemed VERY slow in comparison to all of the other resorts. It took us about an hour to get home from DTD one night! We would have walked had we known! I think the driver may have been new and his wheelchair loading skills were somewhat lacking, so it took him a long time.

There is boat service to DTD and it was about a 2-3 minute walk from our room. It was a very pretty ride, both day and night.

Also, is there a map that shows the resort in relationship to DD? I have found separate maps of each but can't figure out where they are in relationship to each other.

I don't have any info about the map, but the Congress Park section of SSR is directly across the water from DTD.
