I'm looking for opinions on this resort. It will be myself, DH, DS11 and DD9. Is this a good choice for our childrens ages? I'd love to hear everything anyone has to say about SSR. TIA!!! :flower:

I really think they will enjoy the pool.

the food court is being changed into a restuarant. I liked it before - not sure about how I will like it after.

this is not a regular food court - high price stuff and they fix in front of you. Hardly anything is prepared before you order it.

if you get in the Congress section it is very easy walk to DD. Springs is the section close to the food court/main pool.

the studio has a queen bed and a double sleeper sofa with a balcony, kitchennett (other wise like all the other WDW resorts).

what are you getting?

:) thanks for the quick reply! We reserved a studio and I was told it was closest to main pool area for the end of February - early March. I'm curious about the food... is there much available here or will we have to go to Downtown Disney for this? Anything else you can tell me would be great! Thanks!!

Take a look on the DVC boards, lots of opinions there about SSR. You're not guaranteed to get a room close to the main pool - if you've made a request, you'll probably get it if a room that fits your request is available. I understand it might help not to check in very late.

We like it. I have kids 4 and 9. They liked the pool very much. Also liked the view of DTD.

They will have a food court and a regular restaurant. The food court will remain but the Turf club will be turned into a table service restaurant. Not exactly sure when though.

Stayed there in 2004 with 8 of us. It was great. We didn't eat there. My DD went to the pool one day, just to say that she swam there and loved it. It's a nice walk to DTD. I can't say enough about the place, it's our home resort. We thought it was great also because we are from Upstate NY and it really does look alot like the original Saratoga Springs, NY.

My children are 5 1/2 and 3 and both have had awesome times at SSR. There are lots of activities at the resort (Community Hall) as well as the rentals, DTD closeby and pools. It is a beautiful resort and you will have a wonderful time!

The new sit-down restaurant will be in addition to the food court - not replacing it. :goodvibes

My kids were 12 and 10 year old boys when we stayed there a year ago. They loved it there. They enjoyed the slide and swimming. They have noodles and floaties including a ball you can borrow. They enjoyed the arcade and renting movies. I actually think they enjoyed the arcade too much ;) This was our first trip home.

Since then we have been to OKW. This is now their new favorite resort. They love the new slide there. We love the extra space. We're excited to be there again soon!

Good luck!

Deb

My kids (10 and 7) liked it also. They went to community hall at some point every day. Sometimes it was an organized activity (painting/ceramics) and sometimes it was just to play video games or ping pong. They liked the pool also.
