DH and I have points in holding that will either get us 2 nights in a studio and 4 nights in a 1 BR at OKW. Our other option is 3 nites each in a studio and 1 BR at SSR.

We will be visiting with our DD19 and DD4 and will not have a car.

Since both resorts are in the same locale, are there any pluses or minuses for the resorts I should consider?

We stayed once at OKW and our DD19 did not really like it,but DH and I did. I was thinking that maybe if she gave it a second chance, she might take a liking to it.

Having stayed at both and being an owner at SSR we prefer SSR. It is newer and offers some nice pools and IMO better dining options. We like the Grandstand section. It's the first bus stop, has a great quiet pool with water play area (good for your 4 yr old) and is also just a few minutes walk to the boat launch & one of the the main pools.

We love both and they each have their pros and cons. Love the size of the studio and 1BR at OKW, the layout etc. The extra night in a 1BR at OKW would be nice as well. Our kids (older) do not like the remodled rooms with the carpet gone in the living area and the wood style vinyl foors instead. A little more noise in the unit, plus more noise from unit above. If you haven't tried it yet, maybe stay at SSR as it is newer, a little more quiet and more pool choices.

We own at SSR and had our first stay there this past January. We loved everything about the resort. It is so pretty, quiet, and you feel so secluded from everything. We stayed in a 1-bedroom (first time in one) where our balcony overlooked DTD Westside (we stayed in Congress Park). We also really liked walking over to DTD for dinner, shopping, or an ice cream sundae from Ghiradelli. As for OKW, we have never stayed there but plan on doing so in 2013. We walked around the resort and really liked the way the building looked and the atmosphere seemed really nice. We cannot wait to stay there next year :goodvibes

Owner at SSR also we stayed in the THV last month and my parents had a 1 bedroom at SSR, it was beautiful! The downside was the living area was SMALL. I was very surprised. I have stayed at OKW in a 2 bedroom and loved it! If it were just DH and I, I would opt for SSR if we have anyone else I would go with OKW. We are staying for 3 nights in Dec and had a 2 bdrm booked at SSR and once I saw the size of the living area I switched to the THV!

I think both are fine but we all prefer OKW. I would never stay more than 2 adults in a studio anywhere but at OKW.

we've stayed there twice and just didn't like it. conversely we've stayed at SSR twice and loved it both times. not sure why but the SSR just seems nicer, plus you can walk to DTD or if you take the boat, it's quicker. I like the rooms, the pool and the food better. the artisan pallette? has pretty good food whereas the OKW doesn't really have a cafeteria style eat in/out kind of place. oh and i hate the no elevators at OKW! we like to be on a higher floor and draging suitcases up and down the stairs is awful.
Plus SSR just added a big feature pool so you'll have alot more pools to choose from
