HI!!!!!!! I'm so excited because we are DVC members as of today:cool1:

We bought at AKL and one of the promotions was an extra 160 bonus points to use but they can only be used at Saratoga Springs.

So we are going to use them for our trip in october and stay there...ummm how is the transportation there and how is the resort? We went there and walked around in May to take the boat ride back to DTD one night and thought that the grounds were beautiful.

Anything I should know??? Thank you

:)

Congratulations! :thumbsup2 SSR is a beautiful resort. Very big as you probably know.

There are 5 different areas - Grandstand, Springs, Paddock, Congress Park and Carousel. The Springs is closest to the main pool and check-in and Congress Park is very close to (within walking distance of) DTD. Our favorite is Congress Park. We think the views there are great.

There is one sitdown restaurant - the Turf Club - and a counter service place called Artist's Palette. There is also a small store/gift shop. The main pool area is really cool and there is also a spa.

The bus system is going through some 'growing pains' IMHO. Sometimes the buses run well and sometimes there are long-ish waits. Everything is relative, I guess. Because the resort is so large, the buses tend to get crowded pretty quickly. Some folks think this is a non-issue; I'm just mentioning it as a point of reference. If you have ADR's and need to use the WDW system, allow some extra time - but that is good advice wherever you stay! ;)

OK cool thank you very much!!!!! We love DTD so I'm excited to be close to DTD!!!!!

I figured the bus system would be like any other resort, sometimes slow sometimes quick,I think you just have to get lucky lol.

Thank you very much for the information :) I'm excited to try it.

If bus service is important to you, then think about requesting a specific area within SSR. The order of the bus stops (for drop-off or pick-up) is as follows:

  1. The Grandstand
  2. The Carousel
  3. The Paddock
  4. Congress Park
  5. The Springs

While Congress Park is usually the most sough-after area, I find that Grandstand is also a great choice due to the bus service and their quiet pool (the largest of the quiet pools) with its unique water play area.

We spent our first DVC stay at SSR -our Home- and we bought sight unseen so we were a little worried. We did not request a section due to late planning and we placed in Paddock. We were mid bus route and next to a quiet pool and while the main pool looked great we LOVED the quiet pool!!! We spent one whole evening exploring the grounds and had a great time just walking because it is so beautiful. We love the Earl of Sandwich in DTD and were thrilled to be so close the the Marketplace. There seemed to be 2 buses for DTD for every one bus to the other parks/areas but the bus ride to DTD was seriously three minutes!! We chose to walk back just to try it and of course it was mid day and HOT so probably would have been better to walk in the AM and bus back!!!

:welcome: To The Neighborhood!
We'll be there in October, too,:goodvibes the 18th through the 28th. There will be 10 of us ranging from 85 to 3 mo. So if you see a crowd not moving very quickly, stop and say Hi :wave2:
You'll love the resort! :cloud9: Our favorite section is Congress Park  followed by Grandstand. If you have smaller children, you may prefer the Springs for its close proximity to the main pool and Carriage House. Several nights a week, they will show movies at the main pool - it's a great way to spend the evening. Have fun planning! Maybe I'll see you in October!

Aww thank you everybody for the info :) DisneyDi-I would stop and say hi but we are only there from the 1-8 :(

Have fun on your trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you everybody :)
