can anyone tell me what the health club is like at saratoga????? Where is it located. How does it work? What are the hours. Is it free for DVC?? Thanks!

I have not used the health club only the spa. A member of our party who is an arobic's instructer used it every day of our visit. She thought it was a good facility. It is free to DVC member's and I would assume their guest's as she wasn't charged. She also enjoyed the whrilpool and sauna. I am not positive about the hours but i would have to say at least 7a-10pm. It is located in the building next to the main pool. As for how it works I believe you just show up and possibly show your room key for access. After working out you also have access to shower's and lockers are provided for your belonging's. Hope this help's. Susan

By far the BEST facility on Disney property. Blows all the others away :)

We were there over thanksgiving and the hours were 6am to 9pm.....all you need is your room key which they will keep at the front desk and sign in.

Beautiful first class facility.........:thumbsup2

It's wonderful !! In October we went there every morning. You can work out at the fitness centre, then head to the spa area and take a steam, a sauna, or a hot tub...great way to start the day.

It was never very busy. Usually just those waiting for their spa treatments.

We had been on the Member cruise and my skin was so dried out from the sun. The steam room fixed me up quickly !

The spa has wonderful facilities and smells so delicious. The whirlpool feels so good on sore muscles from walking around the parks all day. Next to the whirlpool is fresh fruit, ice water and a fridge with chilled wash cloths. The showers are also very nice with shower gel and shampoo provided.

However, my partner had a massage there last year and she says it was the worst massage she's ever gotten. :guilty: She said that the massage therapist told her that she was new and this was her first job as a masseuse. Her technique was bad and she kept starting and stopping the massage. It was disappointing given the price and the quality that one expects of Disney.

We were at Dis this time last year and toured SSR. We were interested in the fitness area and it's GREAT. Reminds me of a health club. Plenty of cardio machines, weights and very large! We stayed at BWV and the workout room was very nice. But...it reminded me of a workout room. SSR had a mini-athletic club. According to Dis's site, here's the equipment they had, though the hours weren't posted.

Treadmills
Stair steppers
Upright and recumbent cycles
Elliptical cross trainers
Smith machine
Cable crossover
Free weights

Wow. I was just thinking that I wished I knew if/what the resort had as far as fitness....magically, this thread appeared...looking forward to seeing/using these facilities on our trip in 3 weeks!

Great workout facility. I used it when we were there 2 mths ago. It's a nice sized facility with plenty of cardio equipment. There were approximately 6 of each types' of cardio equipment so even when it got busy (which it never was too busy and this was on the weekend in the morning around 9ish)...but there was never a wait for any of the equipment.

They also have a nice assortment of nautilus/universal equipment and an area with free weights. There are also towels and a water cooler.

It's located in the main bldg. I actually entered (not knowing) through the back way which is in the courtyard area by the arcade and across from the activities center and took the elevator to the 2nd floor and it was right there. Otherwise just look for the SPA and you'll find it (by the main pool area).

I do have to add, if you're going during a cooler time of year and like to do the treadmill, the grounds at SSR are great to run/walk around. You can easily do several miles and even cut over through DTD and in the mornings it's not open so you don't have to worry about dodging people.;) I actually walked around SSR for a few miles and then ended up at the fitness center to finish my workout.;)

There is no charge if you're DVC or if you are staying at SSR. We'll be back there in 2 weeks, hoping to use the fitness center again if I can.
