Got a visit coming up in November. Can anyone give me suggestions on room preference. I would also like to see some photo's if anyone is willing to post. Really excited about this trip to Disney. First time for the kids!! My little girl is so excited she can hardly stand it. My two year old can't get enough of the Walt Disney planning guide video. He is always wanting me to rewind so he can see Mitty Mouse!! Ha Ha. He has a little trouble with Mickey!! Thanks so much!!

My first time to SSR will be in Feb...from what I've heard request the Springs to be near the main pool and dining. Have fun!

If you want to be near the main pool and restaurants then request The Springs. If you would rather be closer to DTD then try Congress Park. The quiet pool is also located in Congress Park, behind Building 16. And there's a walkway to DTD located behind the quiet pool also. Maybe a 8-10 minute walk.

The above link will give you pictures. Have fun!

I agree that the Springs is your best bet for the main buildings and the main pool. Congress Park is great, but better for DTD visits. The Congress Park small pool is also quite lovely. Avoid The Paddocks if possible because the distance to the main area is a bit of a stroll....with little ones you may want to avoid that ;) (we stayed there last November).

I can't wait for the resort to be 100% completed. We were told that possibly by October it will be complete. And there will be an additional pool and some sort of restaurant similiar to Artist Pallette in the new section. This place is going to be soooooo big!!

I'm going "home" in November too! I've stayed at Vero, OKW and I will be trying out HHI in September, but I still haven't gone HOME. I can't wait. I haven't made a request for a specific area, this trip is just me, DM and DD I didn't think it would matter. We have a 2 bedroom reserved, yeah, I know all that room for 3 people, but we like it. It makes us feel that we're really being spoiled! :goodvibes
Should I have requested something specific? I was just happy to be going but everyone here seems to be picking spaces.

It's a personal choice. When DH and I went last month we had never been to SSR. MS had suggested we try Contress Park because of it's closeness to DTD. And he also requested a "view" of DTD. Now as it turns out we were in Building 16 which was directly across from the small pool. And....the walking path to DTD is behind the small pool!!! :goodvibes So for us this was fine. The only tiny little thing that I didn't like was that while the walk to the main pool and restaurants and Spa (Springs Section) wasn't that long (maybe 5-8 minutes) I never got to use the main pool. Once we got off the bus at our stop that was it! It was up to the room, change into the bathing suite and walk to the small pool. Or just relax upstairs. A few times we got off at Springs so we could pick a few items up at Artist's Pallette. And that short walk back seemed like an 'eternity' cause we were just a little tired! :rotfl:

So it's really up to you what you want to be near.

We stayed at SSR for the first time last month and we were VERY impressed. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a 1 bedroom villa even though we booked a studio at the FL resident rate special they had going then.

We loved this resort. It's absolutely beautiful and has a very warm and "fuzzy" feeling. We stayed in the CP section, just my 8 yr old dd and I. We had a great view of DTD which ironically we only went to one time so even though we were within walking distance we didn't go there as much as I thought we might.

We did take the bus back from the BW to DTD one night which was much more convenient than transferring buses, but I wasn't TOTALLY comfortable walking back with her at 10 at night. The path was well lit but there was no one else around so I did feel a little uncomfortable. If my dh was with us I wouldn't have felt that way.

We did make it to the main pool one day for about 30 minutes before it stormed and one day we did some activities at the main area which was a lot of fun. We are not DVC members and if we didn't stay at the S/D so much I would have been VERY tempted to buy into DVC this trip as I was very impressed with almost everything there.

As already mentioned the Springs is a great section to be in if you want closer access to the main area. We did drive and park by the main area one day and walked the other to/from CP.

I would stay in CP again in a heartbeat (we loved the view), but I would be open to staying in the Springs again too. Not sure about the other sections.

In your case, with young children you'd probably want to be closer to the main areas, main pool, activities center, etc so I'd almost recommend the Springs.
