Sara & Ryan's Wishes PJ & TR ~ 8/17/10 WP/GF/Marina ~ 1/22 Thank you!

Just got the Floral Proposal from Lee and he's sending the contract in the mail. Even though it was more than I wanted to spend, I'm really happy with how everything sounds and I've already figured out how to cut back so that we're within our budget again. So here it is, if you wanted to take a look. My comments are in purple.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

CEREMONY

BRIDE: Hand-tied bouquet of mixed white, ivory, purple and lavender flowers—gardenias, ivory cymbidium orchids, ivory roses, lavender roses, purple stock, purple iris, tea roses, dendrobium orchids, Vermeer callas, lavender sweet peas, purple tulips, green hypericum berries, etc.—wrap stems in ivory satin ribbon $190 (Ribbon will be white since my dress is white now)

5 ATTENDANTS: Smaller hand-tied bouquets of same—wrap stems in pewter ribbon; 5 @ $55 each = $275 (Now this is much more in line with what I would expect a BM bouquet to cost)

1 FLOWER GIRL: Basket of petals to drop, if allowed (or flowers in basket, not to drop?) = $35 (this will be a basket of petals)

GROOM: White mini cymbidium orchid boutonniere accented with wire, greenery and detailed with ivory ribbon and a twisted stem wire (see photo in file) $12 (also will be white ribbon)

4 GROOMSMEN, 1 RING BEARER, 2 FATHERS, 2 GRANDFATHERS: Lavendar dendrobium orchid boutonniere accented with greenery and pewter ribbon detailing; 9 @ $12 each = $108

2 MOTHERS: Small nosegays to carry of lavender, purple and ivory flowers
2 @ $30 each = $60 (I got these so we can use them to decorate the cake table too;))

2 GRANDMOTHERS: Pin-on corsages of lavender dendrobium orchids, ribbon, greenery; 2 @ $25 each = $50 (Not sure that the Grandparents really needed flowers, but my coworkers pointed out that it wouldn't save that much to cut them and it will probably make them happy, so keeping for now.)

2 SMALL ALTAR ARRANGEMENTS: Crystal vases filled with gorgeous purple, lavender, white and ivory mixed flowers
2 @ $100 each = $200 (I asked him to make these smaller, so that the total would be $100)

10 PEW FLORALS: For every other row to end of aisle—five per side—small cluster of orchids and roses with ribbon and greenery to accent
10 @ $40 each = $400 (taking these out, will be doing greenery and ribbon or just ribbon instead, but I'm sure they would have been so pretty!)

FABRIC SWAGGED DOWN AISLE: Ivory sheer fabric swagged down each side at each flower cluster on chairs—rental item = $200 (Will probably just have Disney do this for $150)

I had forgotten to mention a petal toss when I spoke to him, so I'm going to get pricing for that too. If it's too much I'll just do freeze dried petals.

RECEPTION

4-6 COCKTAIL TABLES: Small silver julep cup of white, lavender and purple flowers 6 @ $25 each = $150

9-10 GUEST TABLES: Low centerpieces of mixed flowers in colors of wedding in a footed pedestal bowl (see photo provided by client); 10 @ $100 each = $1,000 (most likely will only need 7-8, and possibly even less)

66 VOTIVE CANDLES : Simple cylinder votives—five per guest table, six for dais, ten for escort card table; 66 @ $1.50 each = $99 (Disney definitely won't let me have this many candles, but I'm going to see if I can bring my own. I'm going to look for sparkly ones now that it's almost x-mas time)

DAIS TABLE: Three empty vases for bride’s bouquet and two bridesmaid bouquets to drop into ($10 each)—rest of bridesmaid bouquets to be placed elsewhere =$30 (cutting this out, we'll just lay them on their side and have the two alter arrangements on either end of the Sweetheart table)

CAKE: Nothing needed

TOSS BOUQUET: Simple cluster of flowers tied with long ribbon streamers =$35 (may cut this and do silk so I could use it for the rehearsal too)

ESCORT CARD TABLE: Ten votives (priced above)

MEMORIAL VASE: Arrangement of all white and lavender roses in vase =$60 (we'll either do this smaller, or just do a single rose for each person in greenery)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

So all in all, I was very happy. I feel like I'm getting a good value out of what I'm spending. I also like that I don't have to wait until only a few months before the wedding to know how much everything is going to cost. I'm hoping we can meet with him when we go down in March, although we won't have a car so that may not be possible, but I know he's done mock-ups for some brides, so worst case, we can just do that. ;)

ohh, I am totally starting to picture your wedding now that I see all the decor you will have! It is going to be beautiful!

I love the proposal pictures!!! The flowers sound great to.

I love the engagment pics :)
Thanks so much girls! :goodvibes

Aww thanks! I know, I'm starting to be able to visualize everything too. I'm hoping all the decor will jazz up the ballroom, I'm not too crazy about the GF ballrooms... but I've been seeing some recent pics and they aren't too bad, although I will never understand the weird wallpaper in there! :rotfl:

Since Cards and Pockets is running an awesome sale, 25% off all purchases through 11/15, I knew I had to get cracking on figuring out what to order. To do that I also had to put together a few more mock-ups. I started working on the programs, but I have to tweak my template a bit so it prints within the outline. I did figure out the size on the cricut though, so that was good. :)

I also did a mock up of our place cards. I loved Heidi's silhouette place cards so that was the inspiration. These cards are a little too big at 3x4, the real ones will be 2x4.

I cut the shapes on the cricut, and the cards are from cards and pockets and I embossed the names. The ribbon on the top will be a different color based on meal choices. I bought the ribbon for that yesterday on my weekly trip to AC Moore to buy ribbon with my 50% off coupon :rotfl:, they will be gray, silver, lavender or green.

So I placed the order Sunday night and I received my order today! I was amazed! With the discount code I saved around $45. :thumbsup2

I've also been thinking of decor a lot more lately. I think I want to get an antique birdcage to use as a card box. I'm hoping I could just rent this, since I'm not sure what I would do with a birdcage after the wedding, but if not Save on Crafts has some that are pretty cheap. It would look like this and I'd put flowers on the outside and a sign that says "Cards", so people know what it is.

I also asked DF his thoughts on centerpieces and he wants high ones . He said he thought the low ones wouldn't stand out enough and I do kinda see what he means and looking at the GF ballroom pics I have, it really does seem to look better with high. So we'll probably do a mix of high and low. For high ones I like the ones in candelabras which I think kinda fits with the loose Victorian elegance theme we're going with. Now to find pics of high centerpieces I like that won't cost a fortune.

The place cards look amazing, great job! I really love those silhouettes as well, and is that a hidden mickey I see?:goodvibes

I like the bird cage too, I think it goes well with the elegant look you will have, and will look good at the GF. And ya, people can be clueless, so good call with the "cards" sign:rotfl:

awww they look great hun! I really like that the color of the ribbon changes depending on food choices! You inspired me to buy my envelopes for mine, I didn't know there was a sale!!

I am thinking of a cage too....but don't know what to do with it after. we should share hahahaha

Good luck on finding centerpieces

the placecards are beautiful! You did a great job!

i always worried about cards falling out of the cage - but maybe I am just paranoid :confused3

We had a treasure chest (fit our theme) which was fully closed except a slot for cards...

I think you may have mentioned this before, but could you tell me how you embossed the names?!?! I love the look of it but am not clever enough to figure it out!

TIA!!

Thanks! That totally is a not so hidden mickey you see! ;) I figure I may as well go with the look they already have and I do like that big birdcage in the lobby. I saw a cute pic where they jazzed it up with some ribbon, a sign and flowers. Only they put flowers inside which seemed silly since the cards would just cover it. I may even put a fake card in there too so there's no mistake. :lmao:

Thanks! I know a few brides have done little different things on the cards so the waitstaff knows. Since everyone orders their meal in advance I figured that would be better than everyone being asked "and what did you get"? Yay! I totally didn't expect them to have a sale but I was so excited! I got the pearl envelopes and they are really pretty. They are white and sparkly. :lovestruc

Lol, but then I would be stuck with it since your wedding's first. :rotfl: I guess I could let my cat play in it. :rotfl2: It was only $20 on that site, so if we can figure out how to transport it without it costing more than the birdcages, I'm down with it. I plan to just ship it to Lee so it doesn't take up room in my apt.

We did find some that we liked, so I sent a pic to Lee and will hopefully hear back about pricing soon. :thumbsup2

Thanks so much! That's a good point. I'm not sure how big they are or how big the slots on the side are. I could wrap some ribbon around strategically to keep them in though. :thumbsup2 I think I remember that from your pictures and I really liked it. :cutie:

No problem. I used the pearlescent paper, this time in the form of folded cards, from cards and pockets. If you use regular paper the ink will dry too fast, you could also use vellum. Then I just printed on my printer and sprinkled with embossing powder. Shake off the excess and return to the jar and use the heat tool to melt the powder. I got everything at AC Moore, but they have it at Michael's or I would think any craft store. I have found the "Zing" brand to be the best and don't buy the ones with sparkles, even though it will be really tempting because they are so sparkly :lovestruc...the glitter doesn't melt so it ends up looking messy. :confused3 I've also heard you should rub the paper with a dryer sheet first, this will keep the excess powder from sticking when you try to shake it off.

Wow they look great!! Congrats...I love Cards and Pockets!!!

Thanks Mandy! Me too, I was so excited to get everything! I may start printing envelopes soon and at least get those out of the way. ;)

The placecards are too cute. I'm so jealous. I want to do DIY projects, but I'm so not talented. I'm better at paying people haha.

I like the idea of different ribbon colors for the food choices.

I love your plans. I am leaning towards a simliar color scheme and our wedding will be at the WP with reception at Whitehall, dessert party at Sago Cay. I can't wait to hear more about your plans. A quick question on floral - I gather that you are going outside of Disney for floral - could you share who you are using? Your budget estimates looked really great.

Thanks...Sue

Great engagement photos.

Thanks! Now I just have to do the mock-up using the smaller cards, but I think it will still look good. Aww, I always have been artsy craftsy, it's just now that it's paying off! Thanks, but I totally stole the different color idea from a few other disbrides, I'm hoping it will help make the meal service more organized... there seem to be not so great reviews on that lately.

Hey Sue, thanks for reading along! Yay, we are almost wedding twins, those are some great locations you picked! I love the WHR but I think we'll be just over the limit. We were also going to do SCP but then thought we might have too many people. I don't think that will be the case now, but DF likes the idea of the Marina.

Absolutely, I'm using Lee Forrest Designs. The Roots recommended him and said they think he is the best florist in Orlando. Lee is super nice and has a really great vision. He also gets great reviews on the Knot and Weddingwire, so I'm really confident that I'll be happy with his work. There's another bride on here too that's going to use him...I believe she's getting married at the Swan or another hotel in the area and she had some pics of a mock-up he did for her...I can't remember who she was now though.

I'm also going to be using a chair rental company, we'll sign the contract with them yet because we don't have a real idea of the actual guest count yet. We're going to use Bell Chair Rentals, they rent chiavari chairs for $6 each (with cushions) and the set up fee is less than $100. :thumbsup2

Hey girls,

Just wanted to stop in and say I'll have some updates for you soon. I ordered my headband, a bracelet, garter and cake topper and should have those in a few days. I also ordered the rhinestones to start making some sparkle shirts! And I got some new earrings to wear with my gown.

I've decided not to do a necklace and to wear rhinestones instead since that is what the accent on my gown is. I do like the jewelry I got on etsy but after thinking about it didn't feel it was really dressy enough, but I'll wear it for other occasions and maybe even the rehearsal dinner.

I also got necklaces for the BM's.

I had two of my wisdom teeth out today, so I don't know that you will get pics of me actually wearing any of it, since I'm a little swollen. I was in such a panic over it but everything turned out fine and I feel a lot better then I thought I would. Plus I get to eat lots of ice cream....dr's orders! And then I get to move onto more delicious things like pancakes and french toast! So there goes my thinking that I might lose weight with this!

Feel better! I have to get one of my wisdom teeth out as well. I'm waiting until after January. I can't wait to see pictures. I'm currently looking for a headband. Where did you find yours?

Hey girls, time for my medicine so figured I'd check in. :goodvibes

glad it went ok, i might have to have mine out in the future

Thanks! Mine were getting infected from time to time so DF made me promise to get them out before the wedding. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and I had been putting off a long time which probably made it worse. Mine were partially impacted and the teeth have fully grown their roots so there was a higher risk of temporary nerve damage. It all went fine though and my mouth is just a little sore today. I haven't even needed the strong painkillers they prescribed, just two advil every few hours has been fine. The pain I would feel when they got infected every now and then was much worse! I still need to get the other two out in the next few months, but I'm glad we decided to split it up, it would have been too much to do all four at once.

Thanks so much! For the most part I'm feeling pretty good. I thought I would be completely out of it but aside from some soreness and sleeping a little more I've been feeling fine. I was so nervous about it and putting it off for such a long time but mine kept getting infected so they really needed to come out. It'll go fine when you get yours out too. I was asleep during the actual surgery which was a little strange but definitely good because you just wake up and it's all done! ;)

I'll definitely have some pics up soon :goodvibes. I'm hoping I get the headpiece and everything else in the next few days.

This is the headband I got, but they have so many different kinds. Only bad part is no returns, but the prices are so much lower than everywhere else I don't think you'd have a problem selling it on ebay if you didn't like it.
http://www.weddingfactorydirect.com/hp-16142silv.html

I even went to a headpiece booth at a local indoor flea market that supposedly had great prices...and they do compared to bridal shops, but the headbands were still around $90. I think they know they can get brides to pay $$$ for things they like, so they jack up the price on everything. I also got a rhinestone cuff bracelet on that site that was $65 but I've seen it elsewhere for $200!
