Santa is bringing our disney trip as a present to me and my husband. How/what should I wrap? I know you dissers have some cute ideas!! Please help!:hippie:

I'm doing a set of clues - this is somewhat a tradition with my wife's family, to make people guess what their present is.

We're going to Victoria & Albert's, so I'll do a picture of Queen Victoria in an envelope; maybe a picture of Coronado and a Slinky for the Coronado Springs resort. Stuff like that; I don't have it all done yet, obviously.

I'm interested to see the ideas too. We have yet to tell our children and I have been thinking about a cute way to 'gift' wrap this surprise but haven't come up with anything creative enough as of yet!

My wife is a scrapbooker, and has talked about using her materials to make "magic tickets" to give to the kids.

Wow! We are getting the same thing too! I ordered the personalized maps from WDW (free!) and am putting them in a paper box with the lift off lid (1 box for each child) with a mylar Disney balloon (so when they open the box it will fly out), confetti, rainbow colored tissue paper, a new Disney t-shirt and a stuffed animal. I have also thought about putting a Kids Guide to WDW in (we want to let them help with the planning this time) but I haven't decided for sure yet. I have a 30% off coupon to Borders I may use (yes, I am frugal) but I am not sure.

I can't wait to see what others are doing! :)

Last year when it was a surprise for my partner and daughter, I gave my daughter the Castle doll house and my partner a bound itinerary and some pins. I also had Mickey call on Christmas day.

We're going again this year, but it's just a surprise for DD5, so she'll get a new Belle dress first and a paper countdown chain for her last present.

I did the Mickey phone call (it was perfect - right before the parade!), and after he called, I brought out a box for each daughter with books (Guide to Magic for Kids and the Hidden Mickey book) and coloring books.

I'll see if I can find a link to the Mickey phone call. I saw it this week somewhere. If I remember correctly, you have to enter your reservation number.

We are giving our three kids a trip too. My kids are 8, 2, and 9 mos so really only the 8 y/o will understand the gift.

I bought new Disney luggage from Disneystore online and other Dinsey things that will be opened throughout the morning. I also bought Mickey luggage tags that I am going to hang on the tree like ornaments. We want to see if she notices the theme... The last box of the morning is for DD8 to open. It has a Disney tee and a mickey luggage tag for each of them. At the bottom of the box, I included a letter telling her that we will be going to WDW in Feb.

I can't wait b/c I can not keep my mouth shut! I hate keeping secrets....only a few more days to go...yippee!

So many terrific ideas! I especially like the lift off lids with balloons inside. Disney families sure know how the make magic!

We surprised the kids last year. We live in PA, and we drove to Ft Lauderdale the spend Christmas with DW's family. On the tree we hung a disney ornament for each of the 3 kids - the kind you can open up. (They came with candy inside, from KMart.) Inside we had put letters cut out on small pieces of paper. The kids had to first notice the ornaments and then arrange the letters to find their clues. Once they solved it, thy found boxes hidden in the yard with disney t-shirts and golden tickets (think Wonka) for each of them.

I made the golden tickets on powerpoint and had Staples print them on their color laser printer on heavy glossy card stock. I think that cost $1 each. If anyone would like the template to make the tickets just PM me.

It was a big hit; we left for 3 days at Disney the following morning!
(By the way, Tour Guide Mike was worth his weight in gold. Definitely worth the $20 or so! Christmas week and we never waited in line for anything! How is that possible?)

This year we're giving them another trip for Christmas, going in late April (what are we thinking?? During a recession??) And we're stumped trying to top last year.
So please, keep the great ideas flowing, everyone!!!

:santa:

We are also planning a christmas morning surprise but I felt like it was too big a gift from Santa - our Santa gifts have always been modest. Anyway My plan to announce the surprise is very elaborate . . .

All year long I have been planting the seed that wouldnt it be neat to get a pet skunk. DD aways laughs - considers it for a moment - and then says but I dont think they would make a very good pet - what if they get scared.

So Christmas morning my husband and I are going to announce that we are finally going to give them have wanted all year long - their pet skunk! My BIL is comming over with a pet carrier. He is going to make it look like its hard to control. Then when she goes to check out the carrier there wont be a live skunk but a webkinz skunk, a variety of disney gifts and a countdown calendar.

The countdown calendar explains that we were only kidding and that instead of a skunk we would give her something she has really always wanted - A Disney vacation! The only problem with the countdown calendar is it is all messed up - the numbers are wrong. She is basically going to rip off every page of the calendar trying to find out when we leave and the last page is Zero - we leave today!

Such great ideas! The more elaborate the better in my book! I love the balloon idea. Where can I purchase Mickey shaped balloons? Thanks for your help!

I'll be surprising my 7 year old niece on Thursday morning with the news that we'll be going to WDW in February! So far, I've got a paper-chain countdown with 60 links on it. I'm going to put it in a gift bag and make it her last gift. When she pulls it out, I'll explain to her what the chain is for - that each night we're going to tear one off, until eventually, we get down to the last chain. Then that's when we're going to Disney World!! :D

What a surprise!!! I wish I could come up with something brilliant like that.
Our kids know we are going to Disney in January but they do not know I just booked a short Disney cruise for May and yesterday got the reservation papers in the mail along with the postcard from Mickey about the cruise, I plan to put it in son's stocking...can't wait!

Hi Everyone!

We surprised our 4 kids last year with a trip. I wrapped up a bunch of 'hints' in like a pyramid formation and had it as their last gift. I made up a poem that ..and included sections of the poem with each gift opened. I made sure each of the kids were to open two gifts each..so no fighting. (Our oldest was 13 at the time and the youngest 8.)

I'm at work, but when I get home I"ll try and remember to post the poem itself.

The gifts were things like: A silver plane ornament from Pottery Barn; a 'pass' to get out of a certain teachers class (one of the kids actually had that on their Christmas list as a joke); a toy boat (we stayed at the Yacht club); A rubber duck (representing Donald....I thought a mouse would be too easy and give it away right away). I can't remember the other things..but when I send the poem I should be able to.

The final gift was a big box that I put some Mylar baloons in so that the would pop out..and I put a Hidden Mickey book, with the tickets and a little mini Disney calendar showing the dates we were going in January.

The only thing I wished I would have done is videotape it! They loved the element of surprise and all of them were comletely surprised.

This year we are going again...thanks to my very generous bosses. The kids have an 'idea' as we are going with other families. So I'm not sure how to surprise them. A few things I'd like to do when we are down there, is to have some scavenger hunts, especially at Epcot and Animal kingdom. Just for fun and because we will be with a group of people. This will help them discover things that they probably never would usually. I think I'm also going to take them to Sea World for a day, which we have never been to. So I"m going to try and work something up for that. Although I haven't even started....and if I do another poem.....it's going to be using picture hints since I don't want to have to run out shopping again......

Anyhow..hope that helps someone. Sorry for the book. I will try to post the poem we used last year later today. Keep the ideas coming!

They sell Disney themed balloons at our local grocery store (in the floral section) and party store. I don't know what you have close to you but call the grocery stores or party stores to see if they carry them. I have a friend two doors down who is picking them up for me on Christmas eve and putting them in the box (that I have already given him) and then dropping them off at my house after the kids are in bed.

Good Luck! :)

Hi Everyone,

Here is the poem we used last year. I wrapped up 8 gifts and had a section of the 'poem' in each gift along with some type of trinket as a 'hint". We have 4 children, so I made sure that each one had 2 of the gifts to open and when that person opened the gift, they would read the next section of the poem that was in the box. I wanted to try and make it a little challenging for them.

I'll put the item that I included in the box in parenthesis a the top of each section. Hopefully some of you can use it and modify it.

(#1 Present just contained the beginning of the poem)
Twas' the night before Christmas
and all through the house
your mom was scurrying like a silly little mouse
'tis a gift for you four boys
that you soon will see
unfortunately too "big" for dad to put under the tree

so we came up with a plan
a riddle a clue
now you all must work together
and figure out what to do.

Now we ask (Insert child's name here) to open Present Number TWO!!!

(#2 – “Certificate to get out of a Certain Teacher’s Music Class”)
This present Number TWO
might make no sense to some of YOU!
(Insert children's names here) don't worry- you will soon SEE
That you both will also benefit when (Insert child here) opens up Present # THREE!!

(#3 – “Certificate to get out of School for a day (or two??)"
A-Ha! Now this is probably starting to make more SENSE!
If it doesn't, you must all be very, very DENSE!
If you think you know what is...shhhhhh...because there is MORE
Please watch(Insert Child's name here) open Present number FOUR!!

(#4- Rubber Duckie to represent Donald Duck)
Well don't you have ALL the LUCK!
There's nothing more fun than a new "rubber" DUCK!
Confused now? That is all part of our PLAN!
Number Five will be opened by (Insert Child's Name here), who is a big FAN!!

(#5 – Jar of nuts (nuts because it’s usually the choice of snack on plane rides)
Now what on earth does NUTS have to do with any THING?
Maybe the next gift, will make a bell RING,
(Insert Child's name here) open up number SIX, it's your TURN
and see what you are about to LEARN!

(#6 – Silver Plane Ornament from the Pottery Barn)
Now this gift must make the NUTS make more sense,
Or maybe, just maybe, you're still in SUSPENSE...
Now it's time for Kevin
To open up gift number SEVEN!!

(#7 – Miniature/toy Yacht (to represent the Yacht Club)
Fear not (Insert Child's Name here), it's not what you think!
You won't have any reason to worry we'll sink!
This is the last clue, I won't make you wait,
(Insert Child's name here) please open up gift number EIGHT!

#8 – final gift was the mylar balloons, tickets to WDW, a mini-Disney calendar highlighting the dates we were going and a Hidden Mickey book.

Hi guys,

I finally figured out what I'm going to do for this year. This will work for any of you with older kids and last minute like me ;-)

I found a site that you can create one of those picture puzzles. You upload a picture, and the website scrambles it up..and you have to 'slide' tiles into the correct places to form the picture. Once you solve the puzzle, your special "message" will come up.

I uploaded a picture of all the kids on the boardwalk from last year...and for the message I put "You're going to Disney World Again". I put the time frame, some of the special rides that we'll do...etc.

I made up a 'certificate' on word that tells them that they have one last present and will have to work to find out what it is...and tells them to go to the computer and type in the link to find out what it is. I'll wrap the certificates and give it to them as their last gift. Than they can work on solving what it is, while I get breakfast ready.

The website is http://www.allstarpuzzles.com/misc/mk/picture.html
Hope that helps someone!
