Can you tell me more about the Sanford airport. Have always flown in via MCO and have had good experiences. Would like to fly nonstop out of ABE rather than Newark. The only direct flight I can find goes into Sanford rather than MCO. How far is it? I'm assuming no Magical Express? Car rentals on site? Mears shuttle availalbe? Help!

also go to their website.

yes, no ME
yes they are small
yes they have plenty of rental cars (remember alamo/ntional can be dropped off at the car care center in disney) if you don't want it all week
plenty of shuttles
and yes it is further than mco,
allears website can give you direct driving directions to any resort

just a fyi "hooters air" flies from ABE TO MCO

Sanford is comparable to the size of ABE and is a very low key stress free way to go.. I have always rented a car. The on-property locations are literally within view of the baggage claim (one in you party can wait for bags -while the other ques up for the car). I have used Dollar and National and had great experiences with both. If you have an odd time flight, the rental car agency will stay open for your arrival. As I recall it is around 45 miles from WDW - but very direct using Rte 417. You will pass the exit for MCO in your journey... Sanford lacks some of the conveniences of MCO in the airport. They have one snack bar with fairly limited hours. I would not hesitate to fly into Sanford again. Have a great trip!

ceopamom3, I think you meant 45 min right? Sanford is a great airport and when I lived in NJ (30 min from ABE) I flew into Sanford. It is really easy to navigate and we rented a car one way with a return to the Dolphin.

As for Hooter's I've been watching their site and it seems like their best price for ABE-MCO is $99 each way. That isn't bad but I've had much better out of PHL. If gas continues to go up I would reconsider the price and fly into ABE since that is much closer to home then PHL.

the airport is at Exit 49 and Exit 6 is SR 536 in the Epcot/Downtown Disney area. I have never tried I-4 or other routes for fear of traffic delays (that is why i know the miles - always rushing to the airport trying to squeeze the last few hours out of the vacation). Other routes may be shorter. Even the Rte 417 doesn't take much more than 45 minutes (65 mph speed limit mostly). I can get there and return the rental car and be standing in line to check into the return flight within an hour. Here is a great link to a british web-site with very, very detailed information and directions.

I've gotten rates of $49 each way from PHL to MCO... Just got a southwest ding fare of $43 each way around Thanksgiving! I much prefer smaller airports traveling with my 3 children - but these rates are too good to pass up!

77 days until we see the Mouse again!! Yippee!
