Sanford & Alamo Rental

We have a late evening arrival at Sanford, 9:30pm, and I'm concerned that the counter will close before we get there. I called directly to the Alamo Rental at Sanford and I was informed that they stay open an extra hour after flights arrive. I'm still concerned since I'm reading that it is a major hike after you get your luggage to get to the Alamo car rental counter.

Should I be worried? Any thoughts?

Not sure where the Alamo counter is exactly but all of the rental places I've seen are about 50 feet from where you pick up your luggage. In fact nothing is a "Major Hike" anywhere at Sanford from what I've seen.

It is not a major hike. You just go out the doors and head down a covered sidewalk to the Alamo building.

I just booked an Alamo rental at Sanford and my flight comes in at 9:50 p.m. Towards the bottom of the reservation page, it gives a phone number to call to confirm the time of your flight. I haven't called yet, because my trip is 6 weeks away, but I intend to do that so they have more notice that my flight is near the time of their regular 10:00 closing time. Maybe you should call as a double check.

Sandi, thanks for the info. I booked the rental through the airline, Alligant Air, so I don't have a special number to call. I did look up the Alamo rental number for the Sanford Airport and I'm assuming this is probably the same number.

TerBear: I called the Sanford Alamo location to double check because our flight will arrive at 9:50 p.m. on a Friday. The phone number is 407-585-3500 ext. "0" (don't choose any of the other options). I explained my situation and the gentleman said to not worry, they will stay open for the flight and they realize it will be sometime after 10:00 (their regular closing time that day) before the passengers are able to get there for the car rental.

My understanding is that the car rental counters are near the baggage claim. I intend to go check in for my car and then pick up my bags.

oh good! We have alamo too and our flight doesn't land until 10pm. allegiant air as well.

The Alamo Counter is in a separate building down a covered walkway, and while it's not a Disney long walk, it still is the farthest rental company from the airport baggage area. I'd call it a hike, but not a "major hike."
