Sanford Airport rental car and early morning flights

Wondering if anyone has had experience with returning their rental car before the counter opens at Sanford airport? We have a 6am flight out and wondered how smoothly that process worked or if we should just take a Lyft/Uber to and from the airport? We are staying on property, so any info on how easy it is to get a ride at 4am would be appreciated also.

early drop off usually means there is a drop box for the keys and they mail/email a final statement. I'v never had a problem using this.

I believe UBER now has a 'pre order' function ... schedule a future pickup ...

We did early drop off 2 weeks ago. We've also done it previously. We dropped the car this time @5:57am. This time and the previous times there was always someone there to accept the car and print our receipt. December 2018 we dropped the car off @4:35am. If you have a 6am flight, you might want to leave around 3am if you want to be at the airport 2 hours prior to your flight. At that time of the morning, it takes us around 45 minutes to the airport from Disney property. I hope this helps.

We had a drop off at Sanford and the station was unattended. We used the key box drop off. If the counter is not attended you will see a sign with directions of where to leave the car.
