Just a rant... when we was away on holiday my Sandisk 1Gb Ultra II card was playing up - it got up to about 250 pics then proceeded to refuse to record any more, and also decided to partially corrupt a couple of the pics... i've been able to salvage them by opening them in paint shop pro (it seems to have a high tolerance for dodgy files) and cropped off the affected areas, but it's darn annoying :furious:

Ok rant over. back to my coffee. :goodvibes:

Do an in camera format (low level if your camera has that choice) of the card. That should take care of the problem.

Sadly, memory cards will do that. SanDisk has been very good about replaceing cards that have gone bad. You might want to go on-line and download a program called Media Recover. It will open images on cards even if is corrupt. It also has a feature that lets you wipe a card clean to get rid of bits of info that remain on the card. This program has saved several images for me.

Call Sandisk and they will replace it. They will give you a shipping label to send the defective card back on their dime, and then send a new one. Start to finish it took them les than two weeks to replace my Extreme III card that went bad.

Don't risk the use anymore. Use recovery software to get your files back, if needed. Then replace it. Do not reformat it first so the manufacturer can see the problem when it goes back. You do not want to remove the whole reason you want a new one!

it wasn't the last picture in a folder, was it - like #9999? many cameras force you to create another folder before continuing. also, if you have deleted files off a card using the computer but haven't emptied the rubbish bin.

if that's not the case (and i suspect it isn't), as has been suggested, i'd send it back or replace it.
