I've heard there are some nice restaurants along here. Anybody been? I've heard rumours of a restaurant that do nice, proper Sunday dinners !!!!

Exactly where on Sand Lake Road? OK, so I'm driving north on I-4 take the Sand Lake Road exit.

At the bottom of the slip its right to I-drive (About 1/2 mile), do I turn left (back under the I-4)? How far along there?

I4 Exit 74A, turn towards the airport. thats Sand Lake Road. Florida Mall just off it at the junction with orange Blossom trail (17/92)

There are two shopping centres on each side of the road - Plaza venezia on the left and The Fountains on the right. They are about half a mile from I4. It is a very busy stretch of road. We went to look at some of these last trip and it is worth booking ahead as they had long waits even in January. The Melting Pot (referred to in another post) is there and one I fancy trying next month!

Hope you don't mind an Orlando local chiming in...

Sand Lake Road is really easy to get to--you can hop on I-4 and get off the Sand Lake Road exit, you would want to head west on Sand Lake. Heading east sends you over to Florida Mall and through an area without much in the way of dining.

A few great restaurants on Sand Lake are Roy's, Season's 52 (we had dinner there last night--yum!), Jeffries, and the Samba Room. You'll also find the Melting Pot, Vines, Bonefish Grill, Antonio's, Ruths Chris, and Fishbones.

Many of these are very popular and I'd suggest a reservation. most ahve web sites.

Moonfish is also there - nice fish restaurant. (yes you turn left after getting off I4 at the sand lake junction)

What, nobody's mentioned the Gourmet McDonalds :)

I ate in Fishbones last week, it was pretty good but you can get better value for money elsewhere I think.

Anne, you were at Season's 52 last night? OMG.....I was there around 9:15pm or so to purchase a gift card! First time in there.....pretty impressive looking.

Missed you by around 45 minutes. It was a terrific meal, I highly recommend it.

Yes, back under the I-4 and restaurant row is literally the other side - you can't miss it. Depending on where we're coming from, we also use Turkey Lake Road or Universal Blvd to reach it - both have junctions with Sand Lake. We've eaten at several there - our favourite is Ruth's Chris, although we've yet to try Seasons 52, which is very popular.

Also closeby (just north of Sand Lake on I-Drive) is Salt Island Chophouse and Fish Market, which we love. Another (on the corner of Dr Phillips Blvd and Conroy-Windermere Road), is Stonewood Grill. Friends who live in Celebration took us there a couple of weeks ago. Whilst I probably wouldn't rush back (because there are so many others I prefer), it was very nice and I think it would have a broad appeal. It has a good ambiance and manages to pull off an upscale yet casual vibe.

Ooh yes. Melting Pot does sound nice...

Not sure about the upscale places with our 4-yr old in tow. Not really what we;re after.

I'd pretty much rule out most of the places I listed, unless your child is really used to dining out in nicer restaurants.

With a four year old there are plenty of options, but not on Sand Lake Road.
