Sand and Sun ~ Trip Number Ten Was Lots of Fun! Clearwater Beach & YC, August 2013

All these pictures of the Yacht and Beach Club are making me excited to visit them!

I'm starting to get nervous about this fast pass plus system! :sad2: Quick question: I have fast passes set up for every day but we are park hopping so if I only have 1 fast pass for Animal Kingdom in the morning, can I get a later fast pass during the day if I go to Magic Kingdom? I know I can't do it on my computer at home but when I get rid of my fast pass at Animal Kingdom, can I go on my phone and pick new fast passes for MK?

I mean last year we only used fast passes for Test Track, Toy Story Mania, Peter Pan (twice) and I think we pulled one for Maelstrom but we didn't really need too :haha: I'm just having visions of the parks being packed and long waits! We were so spoiled last year with the low wait times!

5 days! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Gooooooo Shelly!!!!! You can get these updates done!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I better not tell Bob about the iced coffee in France, I'll create a monster. He's a sucker for coffees and pastries.... so I casually try to get him to skip past that pavilion most of the time. LOL. I'm already budgeting WAAAAAY more than I thought humanly possible for Boardwalk Bakery stops this trip. :lmao:

Every time I read one of your updates I get hungry.:confused3

:rotfl2:

That pretzel looked good! And iced coffee--- yum!
My trip mates last time had pretzels and beer in Germany and I couldn't have either one and I may or may not have pouted.:rolleyes1

I know you'd never believe that about me…:p

I'm glad you watched AA! It's a good show, but we agree a little long. Cut that thing by about 15 minutes and it's perfect. Unless of course you're needing a nap.:rolleyes1

Love the shops in China. Those swords are beautiful. Too bad the shipping is high-- that would have been awesome in his room!

Okay go pack and update more.
More more more! We want more!!!:cheer2:

That cream cheese pretzel is on my list of treats to try now :)

I could literally look at your pics of World Showcase and the Yacht and Beach Club all day!

It was very good! ::yes::

Glad you are enjoying the pics. :goodvibes

I love WS and AA always makes me cry. Lol. I can't believe you've never seen it. The voices of liberty have beautiful voices!!!
I never had the cream cheese pretzel, but tried the jalapeño one in AK once and it tasted nasty. I'll have to try that one.
I can't wait to be back. 30 days today.
I'm looking for an Ohana ressie too now. My DS16 asked to eat there, and we need to make the teenager happy!! So we're not miserable lol

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

We haven't seen too many of the shows/films in WS. Just France and now AA.

Yeah, the jalapeno pretzel didn't sound good at all. :scared:

I still haven't been able to snag an Ohana ressie, how about you?

Glad you guys decided to try DQ. I do love that virtual POTC. One June we were there and it was SOOOOOO blazing hot the whole vacation and it never rained and cooled things down.

So on our last I told my DH that I was too hot to go to a pool, park, or water park. I needed to stay in the AC all day. That's when we got the DQ idea and we ended up having your blast.

Nice breakfast at WPE.

Fun evening just hanging out at the Boardwalk.

Last June we had a morning like that at the MK. It was just packed in between the turnstile and the park.

Back to read.

DQ was lots of fun! I think it's overlooked by a lot of people. And yes, it is a nice break from the summer heat!!

We LOVE hanging out on the BW! :goodvibes

I'm really not sure about that. From everything I've read you can only use your FP+ in one park on one day. But, everything seems to be changing by the day. :faint: They are pulling FP machines from each park very soon. I would ask when you get to AK that morning... I know we can split ours by the person. DS14 and I are going to AK one day while DS12 & DH go to Epcot. We were each able to get FP+ for the park we would be in.

Hopefully the lines won't be long and the FP's won't be a big deal anyway!! :wizard:

I was going to do another one today, but I'm swamped in TA stuff again!! :faint:

My DH loves pastries and coffees too! He says he's not going to get as many iced coffees this time since it won't be so hot. We'll see about that...

 Probably because we were always eating!!

What? You pouted about that?? :confused3

:rotfl:

Yeah, AA is very long. People were leaving during the last 10-15 minutes!!

DS14 really wanted one of those swords. But, the shipping was crazy. He said he was going to look online for one when we got back. But I don't think he ever did. :upsidedow

I need to check the forecast and go pack!! :yay:

No Ohana yet but I'm optimistic.
I do have a little longer than you though. You should keep trying! I would even get there early to see if you could get in if you don't score a ressie.

I thought about doing that, but then I would have to cancel the ADR we have for that night and potentially end up with nowhere to eat. :sad2:

It's okay, I'll just be sure to schedule Ohana for August!

It was about 3:30 when we got back to the YC. We started to pack up most of our stuff. I spent some time on the balcony. The rain let up and the sun even came out.

Minnie comes with us each trip. We got her on our very first trip in 2005. DS12 used to LOVE her. He has of course outgrown her, but she still gets to come along!

Eventually we got ready and headed out for dinner. We didn't have any ADR's, and had planned to do either BRG or ESPN. I was in the mood for a steak and had a great one at ESPN before, so ESPN it was!!

There was no wait to get in and we were seated right away. Our waitress was great! The kids of course couldn't find anything they liked on the adult menu and we asked her if it was okay for them to order off the kids menu and she said it was fine!

I got the steak, potatoes, and cucumber salad. DH got some kind of fish sandwich and cucumber salad. DS14 got a burger and fries and DS12 got chicken nuggets and a cupcake. He was happy they were the “real” nuggets and not those nasty pressed patty ones that they usually serve in the kids meals.

Everything was great! The best place for a steak in WDW if you ask me!! I like it better than LeCellier and the Yachtsman.

Total Bill: $56.62

Great update! I want to go too!!

The 360 show in China is very good too. I think the only one we still need to see is the one in France.

*Nice I posted this, came back and what do you know yay another update! Will have to give the steak a try at ESPN. We weren't thrilled with LeCellier either, and haven't been to Yachtsman.*

Happy 4 Days!!!

:cool1: :woohoo: :cool1: :woohoo:

I can't believe you're going soon!!!:dance3::dance3::dance3:

Did you do online check in this time?

I did that for the first time in Sept and it was the only time at the GF that they gave me every stinking thing I had NOT requested. Even though all of my requests were listed on my reservation AND I had called IPO numerous times to make sure it was all written there. Grrrrrr. I won't ever do online again.
Of course, it was par for the course with that trip. Whiny baby brat that I was.;)

Speaking of that I forgot to ask if you noted my requests on my reservation? I will remind IPO when I call them, so if you didn't don't worry about doing it.

Okay now to read your update again. I read it fast because I was 'cited you're leaving soon!!!:cheer2:

(OMG that dumb email!!!!!!!!!! Sorry.)

Okay so ----

How nice that the sun came out for your last evening at WDW!! And Minnie… awwww. I'm glad she gets to go back to the Mother land every trip. :p

ESPN looks nice. I had planned on going there last time to watch the game, but we know how that turned out and where our behinds landed. popcorn:: Not to say I'm sad about it--- loved that dang cabana!--- but I would like to go to ESPN at least once.

The food looked really good.
And I never ever look at any meat and say it looks good; I never miss not eating it anymore, but that steak looks so good!! Much better than the dried out steak you get at LC!! My iron must be kaput for me to say that!!!!
Somehow taking iron pills is not going to be the same.:scared:

:rotfl:

Yay for updating!! So======= what's going on today? More packing, unpacking, repacking???:cool1:

Well, we have another snow day today so now I have more time to DIS than I had planned. :cool1: Everyone in the house is going stir-crazy. Seriously, since Christmas I've cleaned every nook and cranny in the house thoroughly, organized closets, decluttered, made meals to freeze, etc. I really don't even know what to do today. I'm even all caught up on my school work as today would have been the start of the second semester and I turned in all my grades yesterday. It's getting pathetic. I told DH when he called me from work today that we have got to get out and do something this weekend. Me and my boys are going nuts.

It looks like you had a relaxing last evening in the World. We ate at ESPN on our last trip and loved it! The night we were there it was packed but we got there just before the crowds arrived. It looks like it wasn't too full for you guys. I think next time we get to WDW we'll try BRG based on your recommendation.

I'm glad Minnie got to go "home". What do you do with Minnie when you're not traveling to WDW?

I've always wanted to see the show in China. Just wasn't sure about the standing and the 360. :upsidedow

ESPN can make a steak just how you order it with no problems!! Which is well done in my case. No blood, and not burnt. I've had trouble with LC not getting it even close to right. And the last time I had a steak there it was just okay. Definitely not worth the price. And the Yachtsman steaks have too much "stuff" on them. Ruins it for me. :confused3

I know, it's coming up fast!! :cool1: Nope, no online check in for me. I'm worried about exactly that -- just being given a room without anyone looking at our requests.

Yes, your requests are noted on your reservation!!! ::yes:: Absolutely! I think I will call or email IPO for you as well. I want to make sure they have it for you. I know they didn't last time and also when I stayed there last December they didn't have any of my requests noted at all when we checked in. :confused3

That email stuff was crazy!!! Still can't figure out how that happened. :upsidedow

Minnie has seen better days! :rotfl: Her hands used to be nice and white. Now she's gray. :lmao:

Well, if you ever decide to give in and have a steak - go to ESPN!! ::yes:: You guys would love the theming anyway. :thumbsup2 I don't eat a ton of red meat, but when I do I want a good steak. Can always get it there. :)

Today - Let's see.... Been to the bank, post office, and grocery store. Booked one trip and have been working with a few other clients. That's about it. Need to check the weather and think about packing. And repacking. :faint:

I figured we would have a delay this morning. It was cold!! :cold: Still is. :sad2: Sorry you and your boys are getting restless. I know all about boys being cooped up all winter. Not a good thing!! :faint: At least you got all your grades turned in. Our second semester starts tomorrow.

We always like to try and make the last night at WDW relaxing and not have too much going on. Try to drag it out as long as possible I guess!

At home Minnie sits on DS12's shelf on his headboard, with the sorcerer Mickey that DS14 got on our first trip, Stitch, a stuffed Sheltie (that's the kind of dog we have) and a Dinosaur DS12 won at AK one year. :) Of course he pulls Minnie down and throws her in a drawer when he has friends over!! :lmao:

Our daughter has a stuffed kitten named Fluffy who has been on every trip from the time she was 8 years old. Fluffy even went to college with her. Our son did the same thing. It is so cute when they do that. ;)

We usually eat at Big River Grille on every trip, but when we were there last February, the food was not very good at all. I've been wanting to try the ESPN Club. Your steak looked good. :)

Did you do online check in this time?

I did online check in for the first time ever for our trip in December, and I didn't get anything I requested either. I decided not to make any requests on the online check in for our January trip. I plan to complain bitterly if I don't like what room they decide to give us when we check in.

They keep changing the weather forecast, too. :crazy2: I'm not packing until the night before.

That is interesting. I don't think I'm ever going to do online check in.

I know!!:faint: My one day that was supposed to be sunny and 76 (just saw it yesterday) is now a high of 63.

Do it! I know you didn't ask me, but that is a great deal. I'd give anything right now to be going on a Disney cruise. We had so much fun on our Fantasy cruise a few weeks ago and we can't wait to do it again!

It's done! It's booked! I'm broke! :lmao: But happy! :goodvibes

------------------------------------------

Shelly:

I'm a bit behind... I've been planning a trip that's now less than a month away!!!! :crazy2: I have NEVER done that before! The least amount of time I've ever had from booking until leaving for a trip is 7 months. It's been... interesting. :rolleyes1 Definitely has pushed my type A, super-planner personality to its utmost limits!

Your cream cheese pretzel looked really good! I had one of those at MK once and it was great! Not too sweet at all. I've also had the jalapeno one at AK and that was good too. Not hot like you would expect, but good.

So how were the Voices of Liberty? I have wanted to see them for years now but we never time it right. I've heard they are wonderful.

Your food at ESPN looked great! We might go there or BRG next month. Either that or something at DTD. Like you, I REALLY want Ohana, but all that's left is 9:30. If I could get an Ohana ressie, that would make the trip A+ perfect!!! Have you still been looking for openings or did you just decide to pass on it this time? I'm hoping something might come available if I keep checking. When we went back in October, we had a 5:00 ressie (which is the time that they open). We were seated right at 5:00 and there were many empty tables throughout our meal. I'm wondering if we could sweet talk our way in if we showed up at 5:00???

Only 3 days left for you!!!!!!!!!!! :yay: Do you think this winter storm is going to affect your flight? I sure hope it doesn't. How much snow are they predicting for you in PA? We haven't seen the first flake yet down here.
