Sand and Sun ~ Trip Number Ten Was Lots of Fun! Clearwater Beach & YC, August 2013

too bad the rain disrupted pool time!

I like the family pictures and agree that is a cute dress!

Dinner at Cape May looks good. We've only had breakfast there, but I totally could eat my weight in crab legs!! YUM!

I can't believe how fast your trip is approaching. It must be about 5 years since we first became January Snowbirds, huh? I'd like to stay at Wildnerness villas on one of our future trips. That and Boardwalk are tops on my list!

Yeah, rain EVERY afternoon was the theme of this vacation!! :scared1::rotfl:

You would love Cape May!! ::yes::

Yep, it was Jan 2009 when we were all taking our January trips and started the Snowbird thread. Good times! :goodvibes

Hoping we enjoy the WL!! The BWI is awesome, you should try it sometime! :thumbsup2

Your DS's look really good in their matching shirts and shorts. IT reminds me of the time this summer when my youngest brother and I accidentally wore the same shirt during a boat cruise for my oldest brothers bachelor party.

Thanks! :)

That is too funny!! :rotfl:

At least ya'll got a little bit of pool time before the rain got bad enough that you had to leave. Oh and the darn rain spoiled the outside family pics. The ones that you took inside are very good though.

Yeah, of course it was the worst rain of the week! :upsidedow Oh well!

It may have been me that had asked about dinner at Cape May. I've always wanted to go there but I don't eat much seafood since nothing compares to the seafood served here in Louisiana. It looks like there's plenty of other things to choose from though. Hum.....might go play around on the Disney site and see what's available.

You should give it a try, everything is very good! :thumbsup2

That was me! I wanted the pictures of the food so I'd know if it would be a good place to eat for my family - DH and I are seafood lovers but our boys are not. It looks like there were lots of great options for everyone. Thanks so much for taking the pics and reporting back!

I love the pictures of your family especially the one of your boys.

Well, good!! Was that enough pics?! :rotfl:

I'm sure your boys wouldn't leave there hungry, mine didn't and they are very picky eaters!

So...... 11 DAYS until Disney!!!

:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:
:yay::yay::yay:
:yay::yay:
:yay:

I've been so busy planning everyone else's trip and haven't had much time to think about my own. So the other night I glanced at our ADR's and decided that I'd rather eat at Ohana than WCC. But sadly there aren't any Ohana ADR's available, unless we want to eat at like 9:45 pm.

:upsidedow

So our upcoming ADR's look like this:

Whispering Canyon Café
Chef Mickey's
Kona Café
T-Rex
Mama Melrose

The rain had pretty much stopped after dinner, it was just sprinkling now. We walked back to the room outside and got a few gazebo pics. Didn't turn out too well.

Looking up at our room ~

Then we went up to the room and got changed and went down to the quiet pool. All of us except for DS14. It was his girlfriend's birthday party that evening, so he stayed in the room and Facetimed her and all his friends!

The quiet pool was anything but quiet. Wow. Unruly kids running all over the place yelling & screaming. So we went over to the hot tub and DS12 got in and DH & I were sitting on the side with our feet in. Then all of the sudden one of the loud kids from the pool came over and did a cannonball into the hot tub and splashed water all over all of us. He's lucky he didn't break his neck the way he jumped into such shallow water. His parents did nothing. We got up and left and found a table in the corner. We waited it out until the crazies all left!! :crazy2: Then DS had the pool all to himself!

We went back up to the room in time for IllumiNations. Unfortunately our neighbors to the left were very noisy every night during IllumiNations. They just chatted away. Don't they know you are supposed to shut up and enjoy the show??? :faint:

After IllumiNations I went online and made some changes to our next day's FP+'s, watched some TV, and called it a night.

Up Next: Our last full day

10 DAYS until Disney!!

It is too early to tell for sure, but I'm hoping it gets better, too. Last night DH said that we should cancel our trip because it will be too cold. :faint: I'm going whether he does or not. ;)

I'm sure it will be fine. Anything will be warm compared to here!! I was just hoping to see 80 a few days. We did in December 2012!! :wizard:

10 days!!!!!

Time for these little fellas to join the party:

:dogdance:

:dogdance::dogdance::dogdance::dogdance:

GO!!!!! Pack, Pack, Pack!!

Well dang. My computer froze and cancelled my post. Stupid.

I was saying that I love that picture of your DS12 laughing. It shows his personality thru the lens. ::yes::

As far as the jerks who allowed their offspring to splash you ---- oh boy. How rude. People are so classless these days. I fear for the world at times.:headache:

Hoping for sunshine for you guys and warm weather!:wizard:

For me, that forecast sounds almost PERFECT! But I know I like it cooler than most people. It is nice to have at least one day though that's warm enough to swim. But all-in-all it sounds much better than your August weather. I think you're going to have a great trip! And I must say that I have been hit with the travel bug HARD these last few weeks. It's that time of year where the cabin fever is setting in and on top of that, I've been working hard with my client/friend on her trip and it has just made me want to go soooo bad! So I'm feeling pretty envious of you right now!!! ;)

Oh boy! The cannonball caper!!! I thought I was the only one who is always having run-ins with those kinds of nincompoops! What a nerd! :sad2: I have to say that is a real pet peeve of mine. I don't have a problem with kids getting into the hot tub (mine always does), but it is NOT a pool! I don't think kids should even be in there without adult supervision and there shouldn't be any horseplay! That's what the pool is for! It drives me nuts when kids do that sort of stuff in the lazy river too. It is called a LAZY river for a reason people!!! Ok... coming down from my soapbox now... :rolleyes1

The grounds at the YC are just beautiful! I wish my grass looked like that! Beautiful pictures!

Sorry about your chatty neighbors during the fireworks. Again, some people shouldn't be allowed to go out in public. :rotfl:

Hate when that happens!!

I know, DS looks so cute in that pic. I don't even know what was so funny!!

Oh you wouldn't have believed the people at the quiet pool that night. It was crazy! :headache:

Sometimes I think you and I should trade places - you could come here and be cold and happy!! And I would be happier being warmer where you are! ::yes::

Sounds like you better get busy planning a trip of your own very soon! :thumbsup2

Yeah, it was irritating at the pool that night to say the least. You are right -- some people shouldn't be allowed in public!!

And the people on the balcony next to us were really nothing compared to the people a few doors down from them. One afternoon I was sitting on my balcony and I hear a man screaming at his teenage son. He was swearing and telling him that he had better stop being such a $%#@ or his 50-some year old self was going to kick his @$$. It got bad. I finally went in and got DH. He came out and yelled down to the guy that it wasn't appropriate and people were trying to enjoy their vacation. The guy apologized and went inside. I told DH that he was just going to go inside and scream at the kid like that. :sad2:

I love your family pics in the gazebo!
Some people are so rude! And not to even say something to the kid- even worse. They call it the quiet pool for a reason.
Wow only 11 days!! Don't give up on Ohana. I got one in Oct. at the last min. After almost giving up. Try that cancellation thread.
I am positive the weather will change. I'm sure it'll be warmer. :)

Lovely! :sad2: That sounds like my episode on the monorail last trip! I get angry with my DD just like every parent does from time to time, but I don't understand people who cuss at and call their kid's names. That stuff will stay with them forever. And to do it in public is so humiliating. Kids are people too! :sad2: Good for your DH for telling him to zip it!

Subbing in to your TR because I noticed you spent the beginning of your trip in Clearwater. My DH and I are heading there for a few days in February and I'm trying to pick up some tips having never been there before. Your resort was lovely.

What a great room upgrade at the YC. Very nice. I totally would have taken that room over the first floor room (especially since I am NOT a fan of the first floor).

Did you finally get your cot? I have two boys that are spaced about as far apart as yours and I remember those days of not being able to sleep together. (My kids are in college now). It always made traveling very trying.

I've got to take a break now, but I do have one question - Did you fly back from Tampa? Did you find the drive to be straight forward? (We are actually driving from Orlando to Tampa and then back again).

Thanks! :goodvibes

Single digits now - 9 days!! :cool1: I haven't checked on Ohana yet today, been too busy. I don't expect anything to open up, but it will be nice if it does. :wizard:

Looks like it's chilly down there today - only 52 :faint:

Yeah, it does!! :faint: I had forgotten about that. Don't you just want to shout out -- this is supposed to be the Happiest Place on Earth - stop being so miserable!!!!

Hi there

Yes, we spent the first few days at Cleawater. It was a nice time! :goodvibes We flew into Tampa and drove to Clearwater. Then drove from Clearwater to Disney. And flew home from Orlando. The drive from Clearwater to Disney was very easy, we had no problems at all!

We were very lucky with our YC room. ::yes:: We loved it! We did finally get our cot that first evening. What a hassle though!

Thanks for joining the TR, hope you enjoy! :)

:rotfl2:

Well you know it's usually on day 10 but those dang doggies were begging to make an appearance yesterday bc you needed to start packing up.

:thumbsup2
