Sand and Sun ~ Trip Number Ten Was Lots of Fun! Clearwater Beach & YC, August 2013

I'm here, Shelly, and still reading along. Sorry I haven't posted much - life has been crazy busy lately :crazy2: and my DISing has been limited.

I enjoyed reading about your Epcot day. You had the best view of the fireworks from your balcony at YC. It is going to be hard to beat that view in the future.

I really don't know if my family could hang with the flight to Hawaii!!:) I have a friend that 's a stewardess and she said it's pretty rough...especially if someone in your group is not a great flyer....Mike would be bored to death...I would sleep or read...i think the kids would just be bored..but the end would be worth it!!!!!
I always plan trips for other places and we end up at WDW...it's like mind-control or something:rotfl2: I am hooked and I am not complaining!!!

Hawaii takes for-freaking-ever to get to. Esp coming from the east coast.

The first time we went to Maui I don't remember a lot about the ride over, but on the way back we took the 9-ish flight out at night and I don't even remember the wheels going up. Slept the whole way to LAX and when we started landing I woke up. Best plane ride ever but we had had a little too much fun, I think, while there.;)

The second trip to Maui was fun on the way over, but on the way back I couldn't get comfy and was completely miserable. It was a night flight as well but I didn't sleep and was a walking zombie by the time we got home. Slept for 14 hours straight. Anyone who knows me knows that I just don't do that. At all. (case in point I've been up today since 3:30. No reason. My brain is just "on" all the dang time. Stinks to be Jo.):headache:

That said--- Hawaii is worth it!!!! It's just a pain in the behind to get to! Unless you live in Cali!!:thumbsup2

Just FYI incase you haven't heard it yet...

Beginning October 31, Walt Disney World will have a new restaurant cancelation policy in place. For all table service restaurant reservations, guests will have to provide a credit card hold. If the reservation needs to be canceled, but isn't done one day in advance, a $10 per person charge will be made to the card. This policy is in place for both Disney owned and operated restaurants, as well as operating participants.

Some locations require pre-payment, such as Hoop-Dee-Do Musical Revue and Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show; this system is already in place. If these reservations aren't canceled one day in advance, the full amount will be charged.

Reservations must be canceled up to 11:59 pm the day before the reservation to avoid the charge. To cancel, guests can call 407-WDW-CNCL, stop by any table service restaurant front desk, or call 407-WDW-DINE. Reservations can also be made and canceled online at www.DisneyWorld.com/Dining.

The policy has changed in the hopes of reducing the number of no shows and to allow more guests the opportunity to dine at the table service locations.

If reservations were booked prior to October 31, they will not be held to the new policy, unless modifications are made after October 31.

That's okay!!

Glad you enjoyed the Epcot report! Yes, we were very lucky with the Epcot view. :cloud9: It will be hard to top that one!!

My kids are already complaining about how long the flight to Cali will be. I can't even imagine flying to Hawaii. :crazy2: I'm sure it would be worth it once we got there, but dreading the flight home might put a damper on things. :scared1: I have trouble sitting still that long and I know I would never be able to sleep on a plane. :sad2:

Yep, it always ends up being WDW doesn't it?!!

I just can't even imagine. :crazy2: Between the flight and the time change, I think we would be so wiped the whole trip!! Cali might end up being the same way. :upsidedow

Do you think it would be better to fly non-stop from Pgh to LAX, or to do it with a stop? I always figured we would do it with a stop, flying on SW. But now there is an airline that flies non-stop out there (American or United I think), but I just don't know what would be better. I guess it will probably end up being whatever is cheaper, so it probably doesn't matter!

I am just the opposite.. I can't stay awake! LOL!! I am like in a coma I sleep so hard!!! If it were me, I would just do one flight with United and get it over with...if that's an option. Heck..for as long of a flight as it seems from you to California, I could almost fly from here to London!!!:rotfl: Isn't that crazy!!

I wish I could sleep on the plane!!

A non-stop flight from here to LAX would be just under 5 hours. If we went with a stop it could be 6-7+ hours travel time, depending on the stop/layover. But, we would be able to get up and strech and move around. So, IDK...

New specials are out for Jan-April travel. Been on hold on the TA line for 50 minutes now.... Good grief. Going to be one of those days. :faint:

In the meantime I decided to check our January flights on SW. Our flight home came down to $99!!! :cool1: So another $92 credit! Making the new total credit $204. I could also switch to a different flight going down and save another $92, but it would get us there 2 hours later.... Not sure I want to do that.

As of right now our total actual cost for airfare is: $883.20! :)

Good morning friend! Guess what I'm doing... :rolleyes1 Yep, we're doing the same thing! When I added the FD to my trip a few months ago, the whole process took between 3-4 hours!!! Looks like I'm in for a similar ride this morning. I just hope POR doesn't sell out because I really don't have any other good options for this booking. :sad2: So frustrating! I REALLY wish Disney would allow you to add discounts to ressies online!!! Basically what it does is give people who are making brand new reservations the edge over people who booked months ago. Just doesn't seem fair to me at all. :snooty:

Congrats on your air deal!!

Going on 90 minutes.... So mad!!! :headache::mad:

I wish we could make changes online on the TA site too! That would make it so much easier for everyone.

This is ridiculous. :sad2:

I was on hold for an hour and got disconnected!!! :furious: I guess that means I went to the back of the line! UGH! Going on two hours on hold now... this drives me nuts! :badpc:

Oh no!! How dumb.

Hang in there. My call got answered at exactly 2 hours on hold. CM was good, changed 4 reservations in 15 minutes.

Good luck. :wizard:

Was everything still available that you needed???

... if I have to listen to It's a Small World one more time, I'm going to hurl! :rotfl:

Yes, I got all 4 clients the SPD package at the same resort and category they were already booked at!

Have you checked online to see if what you want for yor client is still available? I was doing that while I was waiting. That way I knew exactly what the new price should be and if it was available. I was tempted to just book a new ressie for them online and then call later and cancel the original one. About 30 more minutes on hold and I probably would have just done that.

I know, isn't it funny how when you first get put on hold you're all happy to hear the music and then after 2 hours you want to kill someone?!!! :furious: :faint: :lmao:

Hey Rinky --- "Did you know, Disney now offers a convenient Quick Service Dining Plan?"

:faint:

:headache:

I think I heard that like 90 times while on hold!!!:rotfl:

Oh I needed that! I got a good laugh from that one! And yes... I DID KNOW ALREADY!!! :rotfl:

ETA: Yes, I did check online and it's not showing anything available at POR except garden or pool view. My client originally had standard view booked so that's a bummer. Oh well, it will still be better than no discount at all. I'm going to ask if there is a FD pin with their name too. Who knows, I might get crazy lucky! Yeah, probably not! HA!
