On our recent stay at Kidani, I was somewhat "housebound" and really tried to limit walking. So we ate at Sanaa 3 times.
First time was for lunch - I was really afraid of ordering something too exotic. Our server was Christopher and he took his time explaining everything but I was still wary. So I tried the Angus burger on naan with cucumber raita. It ended up reminding me of a gyro except the meat was not spiced and it was more open faced. But I really enjoyed the sandwich - cucumber raita is a lot like tzatziki sauce. Kids & I shared the naan with just red pepper hummus - none of the other sauces/dips appealed to me. Kids both had the kids burgers with roasted potatoes and liked them. DD then disappeared to the community hall but DS and I stuck around for tapioca pudding (which DD hates anyway - lol.) There was some sort of fruit puree around it - maybe mango? Dressed it up a little - I liked it. DS would have rather had it plain.
We went back for dinner that night and Abby was our server. Christopher saw us and asked if we were now regulars. I decided to be a little more adventurous, as did the kids. But of course, we started with naan again. I got the slow roasted combo and opted for short ribs and green curry shrimp with basmati rice; kids both got the chicken & basmati rice. Abby suggested the tamarind chutney in lieu of BBQ sauce - kids liked it (tastes somewhere between A-1 Sauce and BBQ.) We all thoroughly enjoyed our food - nothing was overly spicy. I would call it comfort food with an Indian flair. DS had tapioca again for dessert, this time plain. DD had the frozen dessert sampler & I had the dessert trio - both were yummy. I loved the chai cream, but I have an iron stomach for sweet desserts. I think most people would find it too rich.
Next night we returned and asked to sit in Abby's station again. My son is mildly autistic and she was really patient and kind to him - well she was kind to all of us, but she was just so good dealing with him. Unfortunately, her station was full. We sat with Brenda instead. She was good too - honestly ALL our servers here were great. Probably the best wait staff overall in all of WDW. Of course we had naan (we LOVED this bread - it's warm, soft in some spots, crispy in others and drizzled with clarified butter. Just so simple and delicious.) DS got the chicken again; DD got really adventurous and ordered green curry shrimp (Abby had told us the night before that they will make a kids portion of almost any adult entree.) I was not super hungry and got the mustard crusted scallops with coconut cream sauce (an appetizer) and a side of the 5 grain pilaf. This was SO delicious. Loved the pilaf - had a really nice nutty flavor. I much preferred it to the basmati rice. Can't remember what the kids had for dessert, but I tried the orange-sesame cake at both Abby & Brenda's suggestion. It was very good but just not decadent enough for me. I should have ordered the full size chai-cream!
We enjoyed all our meals at Sanaa, and I will definitely order the tandoori chicken next time we visit (in September - just a few more weeks - YAY!!) Don't be intimidated if you have never had Indian food - it was warm and hearty and comforting - and if you wanted it spicier, I know they would oblige. But you might be disappointed if you eat Indian food more frequently.
