San Diego Zoo/Animal Park Buying Guest Passes?

Several sellers on ebay are offering their Guest Passes to San Diego Zoo/Wild Animal Park (you get 2 free as a Zoological Society Member).
My mom has a membership and we used her passes, but she said we had to go with her.
Has anyone successfully used Guest Passes without the zoo member going through the gate with you?

Hey there!

I am also a zoo member, and I just checked the back of my free guest pass. In bold letters it says "Member need not be present"
