San Diego to LAX on Saturday

I'm looking for advice on how early we should leave from San Diego to get to LAX. Hopefully I posted this in the right section. Our flight out of LAX is at 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon.

I think leaving between 9 and 10 should be good. If you leave at 9am you'll hit the tail end of traffic, but still a good idea, and then grab an early lunch when you get close to LAX. There are a bunch of dining options in that area.

It will take a minimum of 2 hours driving time from San Diego. So depending on which freeway you take (toll or no) and what speeds you are comfortable with, plan for at least two hours driving. I would say 3 hours to be comfortable. Then decide how early you need to be at airport to drop of rental if you have it, check bags if you need to, get through security and get to gate.
