San Diego - birthday ideas?

So, we're going to be in San Diego for my mom's birthday at the end of September. Does anyone have suggestions of anything special to do for her birthday?

If you want to splurge Sunday brunch at the Hotel Del Coronado would get my vote.
Il Fornio restaurant in Coronado sits on the bay overlooking downtown San Diego . We eat there at least once on our trips to the area. They are open for both lunch and dinner

If she enjoys the water you could go to wharf area and have a nice lunch or supper and maybe enjoy all the boats. I guess it all depends on what she likes.Happy birthday to your mom!

Thanks for the ideas! We won't be there on Sunday, but Coronado is a great idea. I'll also look into the wharf area - are there any places you would recommend?

OP. We have enjoyed lunch at Sheerwater in the Hotel Del. Part of the restaurant has outside seating. You can see the ocean plus the food is very good.
The Fish Market restaurant near the Midway in San Diego is another place we have enjoyed on our trips.
