San Diego area jetski...Carlsbad or Mission Bay?

We'll be staying a night in Carlsbad heading down for a day in San Diego. Has anyone had any good experiences jet skiing? If so, where did you rent?

Have you jet skied before?

No, we haven't jet skiied. We're horseback riding on the beach the day before, which is my DD15's dream, so I thought jetskiing for DS16 would be fun. We are staying in Carlsbad for a night, then spending the day in San Diego before heading to Anaheim that night. I thought of Carlsbad because we might be able to do it first thing, then back to the inn before 11 for a quick shower before checkout. But the idea of June gloom makes me think maybe later in the day will be better, which would put us in the San Diego area. If we did it late afternoon, it could be the last thing we do on our way to our hotel in Anaheim, which would be about 1.5 hours out or so before we could hit the showers.

Another thought was just to rent a watermouse type boat and drive around...not as cool as jetskiing, but maybe easier.

Any suggestions?

Go to Mission Bay, no question.

If you are familiar with the watermice you know how they don't have breaks? A jet ski is a lot faster and takes more time to get used to. On Mission Bay the water is semi smooth, so it's going to be more pleasant to play on. If you go out in the open ocean in Carlsbad you are going to be bumping over the waves. This will be more rough, you will potentially fall off more, you ski can drift away from you easier.

Try for an enjoyable experience and go to Mission Bay, it will be simpler, easier and more fun.

Somewhere between 10 and 11 it will be getting Sunny.
