Any suggestions on what to order. Nothing too spicy and what about for picky teens. I'm a little scared that this will be nothing like the mexican food we are used to.

We ate here a couple years ago. It was not much different than our own local authentic mexican restaurants. The food wasn't as good, iMO. It was dark, the tables crowded and the server didn't have a clue. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't good enough to go back. Others like it and I certainly don't regret going there once...

I lived very close to your part of the world for over 20 years (I'm from Jacksonville, AL) and I can say you're definately right - it is nothing like the mexican food in the greater Georgia/Alabama area.

If you're interested in trying something in a more familar style, have you considered trying the Cantina de San Angel? The food there is pretty tasty and definately more like what you're probably expecting

We liked San Angel. I ordered the Mole Poblano and it was really good. Not spicy at all. The atmosphere is worth the price of the meal- it is a beautiful restaurant, but yes, the tables are close together. Go- I think you will like it!

I know I'm a sap but we don't go for the food. Its basicly a dark ride.

I get a kick out of it. Like eating a meal in- Its a Small World, or Pirates of the Caribbean.

I agree with the previous posters, the food isn't extraordinary, but it is good, and the atmosphere is amazing. I think I got the combination platter--it had a bit of everything, and really... I just remember the margaritas. YUM.

I wouldn't worry too much about picky teens finding something to eat, the food is actually not too spicy at all. enjoy! (wait for a seat by the boats--it is a great view!)

We have eaten there on our last two trips, and have found the service to be less than good. I have always felt unwelcome there. Not sure if that makes sense, but the last 2 servers we have had have not made even the slightest effort to be cordial. It's like they are put out by the fact that they have to serve you.

That being said, we always enjoy the food. We are big fans of Mexican food, in fact we eat it at least twice a week at home.

It is always crowded and it is dark, but if you get a table near the water/ride, it can be a nice atmosphere.

I go for the margarita's and atmosphere. It's my kids favorite restaurant so we to on every trip for lunch. The food is about the same as the standard Mexican restaurants where we live. My DS12 was allowed to order from the kids menu. DS17 got the "tacos" which is a choice of beef or chicken in a soft flour tortilla. He picked off the peppers and onions. I ordered the same thing and it was good and not spicy unfortunately. It was really like a fajita.

This is good to know-me and DBf are going cos he wanted to take me somewhere romantic and as Brits we are both really wussy when it comes to spicy food-I know the mole thing has chocolate in , but does it actually taste like chocolate? I'm not sure I like the idea of choclate and chicken in the same mouthful... What else is fairly mild for uneducated Brirish palates-as a guide, I've been to Taco Bell whilst over there and loved it!

They were very accomodating when we ate there a few weeks ago. I noticed on the menu that there was a chichen enchilada as part of a platter and I asked if I could just get two cheese enchiladas and they said no problem!

We always enjoy it. The food will probably not be what you're use to. Here are some options that you might enjoy:

Appetizer - Nachos
Entree - Camerones Con Fideos, Mole Poblano, Plato Mexicano

Oh, and the margaritas are yummylicious!!

Give it a pass - food's not worth it - the ride itself is fun!! Actually the food outside in the counter service area with the margarita's was much better than the food inside at the sit-down restaurant. Service inside was horrible, crowded beyond belief. We gave it the try twice now & I said never again!! We were on the DDP last time & the wait staff could really care less - we were lucky that we saw our waiter at all. He never came back to check on us once the food finally arrived. I know during DDP it's slammed, but that's still no excuse!

Whatever you choose to do, look at it this way - you're at WDW!!!

If your BF was looking for a romantic place, I'd say he found it!

Unfortunatly I haven't been to San Angel in about four years, couldn't even
fit Epcot in the last couple of trips. But I love the place. It is romantic and personally I didn't notice it being any more crowded than any place else at DW.

The food is good and I think the staff would be very helpful in describing the dishes. I hope you and your BF have a great, romantic trip.

Sorry The Bell of Tinker I can't speak to the food since I haven't been there for a while but I think you could find something you like and you have to experience the atmosphere for yourself at least once. I hope you have a memorable trip.

Definitely give it a try. We LOVE it!!! The servers will assist if you ask. The food isn't terrible. The atmosphere is amazing!! It is crowded b/c the tables are sooooo close together, but we just get into the moment and love it!!
