We're looking to eat at the Mexican pavillion when we are there in December, and I looked at both menus, and both sound good, but does one stick out over the other? Better service? Atmosphere?

Any suggestions/tips would be greatly appreciated!

I have not eaten a la hacienda but we LOVE San Angel, the indoor/outdoor atmosphere is great and we have always had good food there. Not sure how it is going to be now they have changed the tables. plus pre dinner drink in the tequila bar is great too.

We looked at the menu for la hacienda and some of the sides with the meals were not to our taste so its probably not going to be an option for us.

I've eaten at both, I would pick San Angel Inn -- much better atmosphere and food.

We ate at San Angel and LOVED it !! It seems to get hit or miss reviews, but my DH loves Mexican food, so we went. ( we liked the menu better than La Hacienda) The service was fantastic, they gave me a Happy Birthday button in Spanish, which was really very nice.... but it was nice and dark and cool inside and we got a table next to the water.

It looks like the menu has changed a little bit, for the better.... we were thinking of trying La Haceinda next time, but with the changes, we'll stick w/ San Angel !! :thumbsup2 And when you're done, you can hop on the boat ride!! And meet Donald !!! :thumbsup2

It's been a few years since we ate at the Inn, and they've changed the menu and redone the tables/place settings since then, but we ate at Hacienda in December. We preferred our meal at the Inn over the Hacienda. Next time we eat in Mexico it will be inside in the Inn.

How have the tables changed at SAI?

From what I have read the tables are now long ones where you sit next to other groups. How this affects groups of two I'm not sure.

We love San Angel Inn. It's a must-do on our vacations. The atmosphere is really cool and the food has always been good when we've gone.

We haven't tried La Hacienda de San Angel, but it's something I'd like to try.

On Allearsnet, they have a section where people write reviews for each restaurant (as well as the resorts) that you might find helpful. :goodvibes
