Hello fellow DIS folks.

We have booked a trip to Disney in January 2011...and am currently booking dinner ADR's. There are 5 of us including my 6yr old daughter. I have booked the new La Hiacienda de San Angel sit-down place...but have been debating whether to go to the San Angel Inn instead. We don't usually have Mexican food regularly so I thought it would be a neat idea to try one of these two.

Just looking for some opinions...

If you're doing Epcot 2 days, then I'd do La Hacienda one night and San Angel Inn the other. Or lunch at San Angel Inn one day and dinner at La Hacienda the other night. We personally love San Angel and are eager to try out La Hacienda as well!:goodvibes

Wow, one post and I get a reply in less than 5 minutes...pretty cool.:goodvibes

We are actually doing Epcot over a couple of days...but I have Teppan Edo booked for the first dinner...so I'm only going to be picking one.

I would do the new La Hacienda. Haven't done it yet going in Feb. We are not fans of San Angel Inn but maybe it has improved since 2005.

I would check out the menu's at Allearsnet.com and see which appeals to you more. We haven't been to La Hacienda yet...they were still working on it when we were there in Aug. However, we did have an amazing dinner at San Angel. We loved everything about it..the service, the food and of course the atmosphere:lovestruc. I asked the family if they wanted to try the new place next trip and they all said no! They all want to go back to San Angel...I am a little sad because I love the look of the menu at La Hacienda...but we did have an amazing experiece at San Angel.... we shall see who will prevail next trip. ;)

We love SAI for lunch but the menu at dinner doesnt do it for us but the new La Hacienda has a much better dinner menu (for us anyways)

Both restaurants are run by the same company - would it surprise you to know that it has "San Angel" in its name? The two restaurants have slightly different food styles, as the Inn takes its menu from northern and central Mexico, while the Hacienda has a southern Mexico flair.

Also, from eating at both places last month, I can tell you that the opening of the Hacienda seems to have inspired the Inn to raise their standards - my lunch there was the best meal I've ever had there. (Though I think I've only eaten there three times in the past.)

Unless something jumps out at you from one menu or the other, the thing that seals the deal may not be the food, but the surroundings. The Inn has a pleasant indoor setting, with the boat ride passing and a mountain backdrop. The tables are fairly close together. On the other hand, the Hacienda is more spacious, less romantic perhaps, but with a wonderful view of the World Showcase Lagoon - including, if the timing is right, Illuminations.

Given the improvements at the Inn, you can't go wrong there, I think. But the newness of the Hacienda, a staff and management that is trying really hard to make it a popular destination, and its less cramped surroundings, would get my vote. I've only eaten there once, but at the moment it is probably the WDW restaurant at the top of my list of those I am most looking forward to eating at again.

Thanks for your review - will give San Angel Inn another try. I was hoping this would happen - Its such a beautiful atmosphere.

We just had lunch at San Angel Inn Last week and we had one of the BEST
meals of the whole week, even better than JIKOs. Loved the atmosphere--
we sat next to the water and could see the Volcano well. I had the Mahi-Mahi fish tacos (those were so good) and DH had the Mahi-Mahi dish with peppers and onions (he loved it and he doesn't like Tex-Mex food at all).
We haven't tried the new Mexican Restaurant but peeked inside to see what it looked like (it didn't have the charm of SAI) but was pretty.
We also had very good service at SAI--our server a lady was very observent and brought us refills when needed. We will definately eat at SAI again.

Well I've compared both menus and neither one has anything that stands out as a "I must go here"...both menus seem fine.

I've decided to go with atmosphere and have booked the San Angel Inn. The kid's menu looks pretty similar for both restaurants...so I think my daughter would like the inside of the San Angel Inn more.

My wife is going to laugh at me...I think I've changed our ADR's a few times since I started booking them. :rotfl2:
