Please share!!:goodvibes I would like to know your thoughts on this place-good and bad related to food, atmosphere, service, etc...

Any restaurant photos? I've only seen this restaurant from the boat ride & I'd like to see what the seating area looks like, views of the ride, and the lighting.

I'd also love to see any food photos if you have them. Especially the nachos, salad, soup, and kids meal quesadillas. I's be interested in any food photos though.

Last thing: Do they serve complimentary chips and salsa? & do they allow you to order a side of guacamole to eat with your chips? For an additional fee, of course.

Thank you! :)

depending on when you're going, the photos may not help...the restaurant & the market place area are going to be closed in May & supposed to undergo major refurbishment...on another forum the report was that the area was going to have some major changes...rumor has it a tequila bar will be added among other things.

Thank you for that info. Do you know how long it will be closed? We are planning to go end of June/early July.

Also, are they getting rid of the marketplace? I hope not! It's my favorite inside pavilion in the WS!

I would still like to hear reviews & see pictures of this place & the food to get a general idea.

Thanks!

don't know how long it will be closed -- I was trying to get a reservation for the last week of May and the CM said "sorry" it's closed that week, but she didn't have any further information.

Click the second link in my signature to see our review. The soup was good... the rest, meh. I would go back though, I'd just order something else. They do have chips and salsa but neither of them are fresh/homemade - the salsa is bland and tastes like the jarred stuff.

I don't have pictures for you but I can confirm that you can order guacamole to have with your chips and salsa. ::yes:: And the guacamole is good! I wasn't wild about the rest of my lunch (of course I had filled up on chips and guac) but the atmophere can't be beat. Enjoy!

We went on our honeymoon, for dinner had to wait an hour and a half after our ADR time, the hostess was very rude to DH when he mentioned it, then the food was very very bland, I had the chicken in some kind of white sauce which was good but didnt come with beans, rice, poatoes or anything.Just chicken in a sauce with onions, DH got the steak tip which consisted of 2 tortillas with steak in a brown sauce again no sides at all. Restaurant is beautiful, but will never eat there again. Went back in 2003 and it was great, its gone downhill

I tried to take pictures of our food from our Feb trip, but my it was too dark. (camera with flash was in the checked bags and we had just arrived.)

Food was so, so IMO

I will have to tell you... we love the atmosphere at San Angel, and it is the only restaurant we have been to every single time we have been to WDW with kids. (Part of those were off the DDP, and part of them on the DDP.) That being said, I was there in January for lunch and was very disappointed in my meal. And, you should also be aware that the tables are very close together, in case that's a problem for you. The atmosphere is what draws us back time after time... and the fact that it's a "standby" for our family.

The chips and salsa are not as bad as so many make out. If you can eat Tostitos, then you can eat these chips (to me they're much better than Tostitos... but maybe it's because I am sitting at the edge of a river and the foot of a volcano.) ;-) I have never had guacamole there, and the only really bad dish I have ever had there was ceviche (which I don't think is on the menu now.) But my lunch there in January was very average, and I don't remember my dinner in Sept. 08 being all that great.

Good luck! :thumbsup2

we both had that same steak tip dish and we were  as to why there were no sides, it got boring eating the same thing bite after bite, it was good though, just got old. we didnt have to wait long at all and it was NYE week. the restaurant was very pretty, service was standard, food was ok. i would much rather eat at Tutto or LeCellier. i thought their duck tacos were going to be on the menu but they werent! that is what made me get an ADR for there.
