San Angel Inn Lunch Question

I would like to eat by the water at San Angel Inn (inside Mexico Pavilion) with my daughter (age 6). I think she will love to see the boat ride go by.

First Question: Do you think an early lunch ADR at 11:30am is the best way to get a waterside table?

Second Question: I'm interested in the Prixe Fix lunch menu of:
Sopa Azteca
Traditional tortilla soup

Enchiladas Verdes con Pollo
Corn tortillas filled with pulled chicken, covered with green tomatillo sauce

Crema Bavaria
Creamy bavarian mousse served with mixed berries, cinnamon, orange liqueur and vanilla sauce

As you can see there is nothing mentioned about rice or beans served with the entree. Do you think either rice or beans are included and just omitted from the menu listing? (all ears and touring plans menus do not answer my question)

Since I'm on the dining plan and can get dessert anyway, I'm wondering if it's a better idea for me to just order off the regular menu and skip the soup, but get rice & beans.

Yes, get the earliest lunch ADR for a table by the water. That's what we do. Love it!
I'm not sure about the rice and beans, but I find the servers very accommodating at San Angel. They will help you decide. Enjoy! :goodvibes

Not sure about rice and beans either, but on our last trip I asked for a side of beans to go with my chicken mole and they did not charge me for it.

The soup is fantastic, and the presentation is neat too. Don't miss it! In fact the prix fixe meal is the reason we're going back to San Angel this upcoming trip.

I had it last August, but now for the life of me I can't remember if it came with rice and beans. I'm leaning towards yes. My parents also had the prix fixe lunch so I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if they remember. It's a lot of food and you won't walk out of there hungry.

Talk to your server about rice and beans. I detest beans, when we went in January the server went over which dishes with beans could be prepared without them. We absolutely loved our meal there. We got a waterside table without requesting it with a 125 ADR.

I wish I would have had an experience like all of you. Our server was HORRIBLE, and the food was worse than Taco Bell. That being said, we did have a table overlooking the water, which was very nice watching the boats float by.

Love San Angel. Get there as early as you can to get a good table. The tables close to the bar have servers running in out of the kitchen plus you can't see the pyramid very well. The tables close to the host stand have people watching while waiting for their tables. I always thought they should ditch the marketplace and add some Mexican entertainment like over at Biergarten.

This had been our experience in the past causing us to avoid San Angel for two decades. Hopefully our next meal will be as good as last year. Great food and a great server.

Alright, OP, I said I would call the folks and I just got off the phone with them. We all agree it did come with sides and we're very certain it was indeed rice and beans.

We haven't been lucky enough for a water-side seat :(
We love SAI though!

I too have an early lunch reservation in June and have enjoyed all the information too. Thanks so much!! Looking forward to a waterside table too. Great info..

Thank you so much for calling your parents. I'm excited to try this meal! I cancelled a Chefs de France dinner to do this lunch instead....I just have to figure out which day to put the lunch ADR in and book it. I seriously need to be at EPCOT for so many meals! LOL
DD & I had tacos tonight for dinner, already dreaming about eating at San Angel Inn. :-)

We were there last month and found our server to be incredibly accommodating. We ate their for DH, and I was worried about dishes being too spicy for me. Our server helped me select a dish he thought was less spicy while still being authentic and also suggested ways any other dish could be made less spicy for me. We had a wonderful time!

We had a similar experience. My son was ordering off the adult menu for the first time, and when the server asked him what he wanted, my son was a bit unsure because he was worried about ordering something too spicy. Our server told my son that nothing would come out too spicy for him, and if it did, he would get him something else. When the food was served, our server kept checking with my son to see if he liked his meal. Awesome service! :thumbsup2

I hope you like it! If you were thinking of doing the prix fixe at Chefs de France, my parents tried it recently and said it wasn't as good as the one at San Angel.

We eat here every trip for lunch. Early seating def. will get you waterside seating as it isnt as crowded, but if dont seat you near water, ask.

And Enchilladas plate include beans and rice.

Enjoy!
